Didn’t think I was a fan of Israeli food until eating here. The pita is next level!! We came with a group of 8 so had to do the feed me menu. We were definitely fed… sooo much food. We were seated by a somewhat private table but the restaurant was not thrilled when we were standing up and chatting at the beginning and end so maybe not a great spot for a large gathering.
Great indoor/outdoor space on Magazine street. Service was friendly and fast even as the tables were filling up. Most dishes are pretty small so definitely order a variety for the table. The fresh pita, smooth hummus, pickled carrots, and confit tomatoes were the standouts.
Food is great! Service is amazing! I love the staff and food so I will always try to take my friends who are out of town here! However, there are a few that this business does that I think is fundamentally wrong. There is a 4% extra surcharge on your bill if you go to this restaurant. On Saba's website they say: "We pride ourselves on paying our teams competitive base wages, but we want to do more." If they wanted to do more, then why don't they do more? Why do I as a consumer have to pay a surcharge of 4% on my bill and which on top I am paying tip on top of the 4%? Restaurant owners should pay their employees fairly and not have me as a consumer be their boss. "As a step to minimizing the wage gap, we are adding a 4% “Kitchen Appreciation Fee” to your bill" If they really wanted to minimize their wage gap all together they would pay all of their staff an livable hourly rate. Finally they say "We take a new approach to providing a higher livable wage" It isn't we, it is the consumers who are providing a higher livable wage for these restaurants. Please remove this 4% fee as people might just tip 4% less which would result in not solving the problem the 4% surcharge was intending to solve.
Delicious dinner tonight at Saba. Many vegetarian options. I could easily say that this was the best falafel I have had outside of the Middle East. Our server Greg was outstanding and attentive. Highly recommended.
Back in New Orleans and love this restaurant! Sat outside on the patio in the sun for brunch and had the following - roasted beets sumac pickled onions and dill, Moroccan carrots chermoula, lentils and coriander, Hummus - classic tahini aleppo pepper, parsley and olive oil, bright green falafel tahini and zhoug paired with a Stoller Pinot Noir. Amazing flavor and on my list every time I return! Highly recommend.
This is such an amazing restaurant! As an Israeli I wasn’t expected to be amazed by the food in an Israeli restaurant in the US, but this place definitely wowed me! Everything was extraordinary but the thing that surprised me the most was the pita - most places in the states does not have a decent pita bread (at least from an Israeli perspective), but this place had the best pita I had in my life! Despite being a but pricy, this place is highly recommended 👌🏽
Food is not that good. Maybe it is because I do not eat a lot of this type of food but it was not good to me personally. I did love the salad but everything else was a noo for me! The service was very slow. The place is beautiful!
