S & S Cafeteria - American restaurant in Augusta - 1616 Walton Way, USA

I would very much recommend S & S Cafeteria to anybody on a budget, or even if you're just looking for a quick and tasty lunch or dinner option. I hardly ever finish my food when I eat out, usually getting takeout, but I absolutely cleaned my plate with this meal. I ordered mashed potatoes with gravy, fried chicken drumsticks, and a slice of apple pie. The service here was amazing. The food handlers were friendly and quick to dish out food, and the waiters were polite and upbeat.

This is an old fashioned (cafeteria style) buffet line where you select what you want to eat while you walk by each item. This is soul food that will satisfy your hunger pains right after church! The prices are reasonable as they mainly cater to our seniors. You can get 1 meat, 2 vegetables with bread/cornbread (excluding drink or dessert) for less than $10. The decor is outdated, so I could not give more than 3 stars.

Food was not hot and presentation was not as satisfying either. BBQ chicken was OK, not delicious. You can tell the changes from over the years... and it does not compare. I would not be as likely to done again. The dining area looks dreary... felt like I was in a senior facility and not because of its customers. They could stand to liven up the place with fresh paint, pictures and staging/ decor.

Food is good, depending on what you get. Could use a bit more seasoning in the vegetables, but it is cafeteria style after all. My husband is a hearty eater but I thought $50 + tip, for an ok lunch was a bit much. Wait staff is very friendly but you do half the work before you get seated. Worth a try. Everyone's taste and expectations from a cafeteria style restaurant is different. Don't forget that every thing is priced separately.

This is one of our favorite places to eat. They have the best home-cooked meals. My favorite side dish is their squash casserole and I love just about all of their meats. Everything is delicious. They also had the best egg custard pie I’ve ever had. You will not go wrong by having a meal at S&S cafeteria.

The cashier and lady who fixed my plate was awesome! Didn't care for the squash. My liver and onions and gravy was seasoned well and tender.

First time visiting this location on way from Atlanta to SC. Food was piping hot and delicious...line was rather lengthy considering it was a Sunday but moved very quickly. Service attendants helped escort my party to a table and he was very accommodating by making sure we had all the condiments, drink refills etc...Very nice experience.

Very old school cafeteria with a lot of choices for a great price. It was a little confusing to me my first time there but the staff helped me out well enough. Had the liver & onions, potato salad, turnip greens, stewed cabbage and sweet potato pie. Really felt like southern comfort food. Actually I thought the best dish was the cabbage, right texture and so flavorful. Turnip greens were too salty and the sweet potato pie oddly enough too sweet. Liver and onions were exactly what I thought it was going to be. Mr Beasley in the seating area is an amazing individual, he's so helpful. I can see how this place has been around for so long.
