You get exactly what you pay for. In August of this year a friend, myself, and our two children stayed at this hotel for 3 days and 2 nights. It was hell from the moment we entered the room. There were no pots and pans for us to cook our bags of grocery's. The bathroom was completely disgusting it was very old with bad conditions. The water for the shower would change temperatures from hot to cold instantly without you changing it. The bed felt as if we were sleeping on rocks with pillows underneath. There was no housekeeping options so when we came back from the beach sand was everywhere. There were bugs everywhere on the floor, we had to sleep with both eyes open so our children would not get bitten or crawled on. There are only a couple of parking spaces and there are no assigned spaces. So even though i had a bottom room and a parking space right in front of my room, someone else could park there. I parking was tight and i was forced to park behind the motel instead of in front of my room. The vacation trip was great but i will never ever stay here again. Anyone who comes across this motel please for your our happiness choose another place.

Second time staying at this motel. It is an older motel but they are doing some upgrading. Loved that they are pet friendly. Clean rooms, no smell of pet urine or cigarette smoke, beds slept well, kitchen was clean, cool rooms, didn't see any bugs in our room, plenty of hot water for showers, easy wifi access, and great flat screen tv with plenty of channels to choose from. The pool was very clean as well as the grounds. We had connecting rooms with a kitchen in between which was perfect for our family. Russo's is within walking distance to everything, beach, restaurants, shopping amusement park, boardwalk and even a grocery store across the street. Property manager and all the other staff are very friendly and helpful. The young man that was in the office when I had a question was very friendly and helpful. Even met property owner who was super nice. I highly recommend this motel. Can't beat the service and convenience you get for the price. Can't wait for our next trip to Carolina Beach.

I came with my husband and child recently for two nights. The first night none of us slept. Partially due to the disgusting room and partially to the very old drunk woman slamming doors and yelling. The air conditioner stopped working in the middle of the night. The beds are so uncomfortable. Luckily, we brought a blanket in case our son wanted to nap while on the beach. We ended up having to use the blanket on the bed and sleep on it because the beds were so deplorable. I showered with my flip flops on because I was afraid of what I might catch in there. We wanted to leave the next morning but never saw any of the staff and the office was closed. The only positive thing I can say is that it's convenient to the boardwalk and restaurants. I will not return. I would much rather spend a little extra money to provide a cleaner atmosphere and a better sense of safety.

We opened the door and were shocked that we paid $165 for the tiniest room ever. The bathroom was a tiny cubbyhole with a tiny shower and tiny sink and nasty dirty crud lined the floors and walls of the bathroom. The beds were very uncomfortable. No drawers, nothing in the room but 2 beds with plastic covered box springs and plastic covered mattresses. The sheets slid around on the matress. There was an old woman sat on the porch of the registration office with a dog and flies buzzing around them. She stared us down while giving out dirty looks and the other rooms looked like people lived in them year round. They were set up with furniture outside the door and potted plants out front. When we look back at this memory we just dismiss it, we don't want to talk about it. There is only one thing I can say about this hotel that is good. The pool. It was clean, large and inviting. That's it.

DONT STAY HERE!!! He took $$ over the phone for the reservation! Never had that happen! We drove up and immediately were concerned! This is a private home attached to a strip of nasty, smelly, rooms!!! Owners family was at the pool and they were tactless, gross! The front Door handle was coming off #4 room he assigned us!!! bathroom door wouldnt shut! Ceiling was falling in! Place smelled like it was mopped with old beer!!! I was seriously afraid for my kids safety to even stay! We didn't even unpack! We couldn't sleep in that!!! We asked for a refund and he wasn't happy!!! We left and Stayed at Drifters reef! Better price & CLEAN!!!!

I'm giving this motel 3 stars. First of all everywhere was book 100%. We had no choice. The appearance of the hotel isn't great, especially when you approach the office and there are a couple of weird characters hanging out on the porch like they are family. We read the reviews and wanted to cancel before seeing it but like I said, we had no choice. We decided to check the room. Beds were not bad at all. The box Springs and mattress were encased in zippered covers, the sheets were brand new looking and we check for bedbugs and saw no sign of anything. We decided to stay. This place was the cheapest in town at $159/night. It was a bare bones room. Tiny shower, toilet and tiny sink. No furniture but 2 beds, wifi, a college size frig/freezer, with a microwave on top and a flat screen TV on the wall. That's it. It's a 3 minute to the to the beach, boardwalk and the entertainment. Good dining nearby. The Deck steaks are superb, Kate's Pancake House was awesome. We just walked everywhere, its that close. Russo's Motel is a barebones motel just good for a good nights sleep, but it's nothing like "others" have described. We heard the previous manager got fired and had his people write really bad reviews. I believe it now. However I do have to say the floors could have been cleaner for sure. The pool was just perfect.

Wasn't many in the area that had vacancies. This hotel was one who did, we stopped, barely anyone there which we loved. Tiny rooms, but they were clean. Beds needs some attention, very uncomfortable and noisey, even after every move my 2 year old made, you could hear it. Walls are super thin, could hear every convo next door to ours. Wonderful location, everything within walking distance. Pool was okay, was greenish colored and very warm. overall not a terrible experience but do not think they should charge $159/a night for a bare minimum room. More like 99/a night. Would we stay again,? yes if their rates went down considering the room was not worth 168/a night (taxes included)

The only place we could get a room without breaking the bank on Father's Day weekend. Absolutely terrible. They had high prices due to everywhere else was book up and they knew people would pay these high prices to stay at the beach. Keep your money if nothing else is ava.! If you are upstairs you feel like the roof is going to fall threw. The stairs are very slippery when it is wet. My husband fell down them! Hard to catch anybody in the office. I guess this is a family owned business?? Tiny bathrooms. And all that is in the bathroom is a toilet sink and shower. The hot water comes and goes and it will get really hot and burn you the get cold no matter what you turn the water to. Shower is tiny hard to turn around or wash and I'm a skinny person. Very little towels in room and good luck getting more they are very funny about towels and want give you more until the other ones are accounted for. The rooms are nasty and the floor had sand on it. Wish there was a broom inside to clean floor. My feet felt nasty on the floor. And the beds were terrible and dirty. The pool was okay. But you are not allowed to take towels from your room to pool. Nor do they have towels at the pool for you to use. No dryers on site and no free breakfast either. The rooms are really tiny too. This is a very run down motel and not worth a dime in my opinion. I was very upset with this place and will NEVER stay here again.

Great location. And a good deal. The old-school 2nd-floor 2-BR suite was very clean. Nice view of Carolina Lake. Short walk to the beach. No complaints. Would/will do it again. Mary runs a tidy ship.

Where my dream started. It’s all because a boy asked me on a date and he took me to this exact spot 8 years ago. Bbq burgers on the beach and watched a full moon rise! You could drive all the way down back then and it was much cheaper! Fast forward
