Royal Inn - Motel in Watertown - 25791 NY-37, USA

Here is an honest review without drama or over-expectations. The check-in process with owner: Excellent. Unfortunately the queen room I booked was unavailable. There was a double room available. I accepted the double room. Not a deal breaker for me. Parking: Lots of ample parking on site. Area is safe and clean. The room: Sure, a candle may have helped a bit to rid of the very mild musty smell but, it was definitely caused by the AC running with the windows closed. I merely opened the window to air the room out for 15 minutes, turned the AC back on and all was normal. Otherwise, Room was impeccably clean! No bugs whatsoever, save for the fly I let in. Mattress(s) comfortable. Bed linens clean. Carpet, TV console, sink surface, toilet all VERY clean. Ample lighting. A door that closes and seals. Curtains to keep the morning sun at bay. There were soap and hand towels and body towels. I read a number of reviews before I visited. Some were very positive and some were very negative. This is not the Ritz Carlton. For this price point you should not expect it to be. If you are willing to understand that 'you get what you pay for', you will easily understand the value in this little gem of a place.

I will never stay at an inn again. We were in the room for 5 hours and within that time I killed 3 roaches. I had to go out and buy bug spray, but we were hesitant to turn off the lights to sleep. SMFH!!!

The price was very inexpensive, the rooms were comfortable and clean. That’s all that’s really important to me as a business traveler. No amenities to speak of, which is fine, I wouldn’t expect any for the price. I saw someone staying with a dog so I assume it’s pet friendly. The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is that there was no coffee, which is a bit unusual in my experience.

The rooms are a little beat up, but the staff is nice and it's a clean place to spend the night

We stayed here last minute for a week, the host and (I am assuming) his wife were very welcoming and helpful. The room was spotless and the beds were comfy! The vibe at the motel is safe and quiet. The price is excellent and I would recommend this place to anyone!

We arrived late at night and though I worked about the area, it was actually a quite tourist friendly area. We were handed an actual door key which is different. |Pros.. clean, quiet area, seemingly safe, friendly service. |Cons... Hard mattress on spring frame (squeak), very dated with very few outlets, a vent cover near the floor next to the door that connects to nothing, just another vent cover in the hallway. Every room has this. Not sure if it was part of the old heating/ ac unit or what, but it's just 2 vent covers patching a hole from what we could tell. ||Since we just needed a plane to rest a few hours this worked, but they should really update our put pads on the mattresses.
