Royal Inn - Motel in Sparta - 803 Valley View Dr, USA

We stayed 3 nights. Overall the experience was good. I did not expect anything amazing for $65 per night. The room was cleaned everyday and everything in the room worked properly. It is a little outdated but for the price it was good. My only 2 complaints are there is no coffee maker in the room and it was not offered at the front and when we returned everyday the AC was turned down to 62 degrees. Kinda cold.

I've had my fair share of hotel experiences, from the luxurious to the budget-friendly, but my recent stay at this establishment was by far one of the worst. This hotel is a veritable nightmare. To begin with, the booking was completely mishandled. The wrong room upon check-in and then, to add to it, I was charged an additional fee to be moved to the correct room. The room security was a concern. The one lock on the door was faulty and I couldn't help but worry about my safety and the security of my belongings. A hotel room should be a sanctuary for its guests, but in this case, it was not. I’m pretty sure the fire extinguisher in the outside the room had clearly not been checked in years, the inspection tag showing a last check date of 2016. Hygiene, another basic requirement for any hotel, was grossly neglected. The bathroom was in a deplorable state. There were remnants of toothpaste in the sink, indicating that it had not been cleaned thoroughly. To make matters worse, I found strands of hair on the bathroom counter, which was downright disgusting. There's a significant difference between budget-friendly and downright unpleasant, and this hotel, unfortunately, falls into the latter category. The level of negligence displayed by the management in terms of cleanliness, safety, and basic service is inexcusable. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The experience was a nightmare, and it's clear that the management needs to invest more time, effort, and resources into improving their establishment. Save yourself the stress and discomfort, and steer clear of this place.

Short distance to work. Staff continuously going in my room with do not disturb sign is on the door. I clean my own floor only to return finding it tracked all up which irritates me when I take my work shoes off to walk across the room. Bedding hasn’t been changed since I checked-in though and I’m constantly cleaning up hairs not mine, I asked front desk to stop this they replied sorry but it’s still ongoing! So my rating has declined

Very dirty room. Sink and bath were totally clogged, black curly hair everywhere 🥴

Just bad. You know it's a bad stay when you have to watch where you put your hands or travel items to watch out for gross things in the room. Stains on the bedsheets. Hair from previous guests all over the place. Woke up to a spider friend in my sink. Sticky stains from previous drinks from previous guests on the furniture. Old smell. Dirty footprint in my bathroom area, which seemed to be from a previous cleaning and then dirty track going out of the room. Who knows. Just no attention to detail when it comes to the cleaning and upkeep of the grounds. Plus, the walls are SUPER thin. Luckily my neighbors decided to treat me to a quiet night with no noise, but I heard every detail of their conversation in the morning once they woke up. Yes the places to stay in Sparta are limited, but if you can, make the extra bit of drive and go elsewhere. Yes, you get what you pay for and this is certainly a budget hotel, but even to call it two stars is a bit of a stretch. Only positive: all of the hotel staff encountered seemed nice. Good for them for maintaining a positive attitude, but the reviews for this place speak for themselves.

Dirty & no coffee makers. Stay somewhere else!! The entire room was dirty from the ceiling, walls to the floors. There was even hair on the bed sheets & towels & walls in the shower & sink area. The towels were so hard they felt like sand paper with hair on them.Disgusting! The website says every room has coffee pots standard in every room. No coffee maker. When I asked, I was told it was changed on the web site. It was not. Disgusting place. Stay somewhere else!!!

Room had clearly not been cleaned, there was black curly hair throughout the room, floor and bedspread. Bathroom had pubic hair in the toilet and the tub. There was old food (looked like shredded cheese?) and dirt on the floor beside the bed. Bed was barely even made (see photo). On the inside of the flat sheet, there was something brown (dirt or fecal matter, not sure?) and there were cigarette burns on the blanket. There were 2 worn out thin towels thrown haphazardly onto a shelf in the bathroom, the glass tops on the bedside tables had oily fingerprints and smears on them and had obviously not been wiped off at all. Microwave had hair and food splatters in it, and fingerprints on outside of it. I informed the person at the front desk. He said it qas probably because they are having trouble keeping help to clean the rooms... No excuse. I'm usually not picky about hotels, but this one was definitely unacceptable no matter the price. We will never be staying here again.
