Staff was very friendly and seemed very organized. We went during the week and wasn’t crowded. It if it was full May be tight sites. I only saw one bathroom for the entire campground. Luckily we were near one. We didn’t realize the kids activities were only on the weekends. Maybe put that in your info. We LOVED the pool it was clean and new looking. Great location for rafting and Royal gorge and hiking.
This campground does not have a dog park. There are just a few spaces for dogs, however they are tied to and belong to certain camping spots. It's a great concept if you are lucky enough to book one of those spots, but there needs to be a dog park for everyone. |There was some kind of drainage issues with the laundry room. They had the cap removed from the septic to allow water to run free into camping spots. That should have never been allowed and was very disrespectful and rude to those campers.|The trash cans were overflowing with trash and falling onto the ground. The wind was terrible so trash just blew everywhere. |The only good thing I can say about this campground, they did have several activities for guests. This part is great for families with kids.
My husband and I stayed at the Royal Gorge KOA August 19th - August 22nd, 2024. We were very impressed with everything. The park is well maintained. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean and the showers worked great! We will definitely be back!
We were here back in 2019 and can't believe the upgrades this place has since! Close to the gorge and outdoor activities! The giant slide is fun even for adults! Cornhole tournaments and all kinds of fun! The staff is friendly. We really enjoyed the size of our site. We stayed right next to the nature trail and our site was huge. We really enjoyed our stay and will be coming back. Highly recommend!
POSITIVES: incredibly beautiful surroundings. Truly makes you forget that this nation is in crisis! Very quiet and serene during May. Perfect distance away from the tourist traps and frenzy. Campsites are fairly level and have beautiful patios. NEGATIVES: really just an observation, women’s bathroom was unlocked at all times. Although they provide a code, it appears that the lock needs to been reset!
So we rented a small cabin, and picked this certain koa because of the water slide. The water slide was closed due to staffing, which was not advertised on their web site. I'm in a wheelchair and NOTHING, is accessible by wheelchair. Not even the entrance to the cabin is level enough to go up in a wheelchair, I had to have my dad or son help get up all the obstacles. The bathrooms aren't big enough for a wheelchair to go in, the showers have a foot step to get in which was maybe 2 or 3 feet wide. Nothing is accessible by wheelchair if I would have been alone. Next, our cabin we were assigned has an a/c which did not work, then they move us over to the next cabin, granted it was a little bit bigger.. the a/c didn't work either. I'm not the type to leave reviews, this is my first, but when I try to take my kid on a vacation, and we spend most of the time just trying to get around all the obstacles. I think we deserve some type of refund. Sorry not sorry.
I love the location being close to The Royal Gorge, and other attractions. There's a really cool trail behind the KOA that you can find quartz crystals of all sorts so definitely don't forget to check that out. The only thing I don't care for is that the campsites are a little bit too close to one another, and when you have other campers that are drinking, they are obnoxious. Our specific stay, the campers were fighting with one another and we were worried if we confronted them to tell them to be quiet that they would try to fight us or gets violent. So, that really shouldn't be something that you're worrying about when you're trying to vacation at a KOA. We might look into specific spots to rent that will remedy that situation.
We stayed one night in one of the small cabins. Cozy and Adequate.
Clean restrooms.
Cool water swimming pool.
Huge slide was fun.
(The fire pit is dangerous, deep and unstable rocks!)
Coach Solana was awesome. Great instructor/coach, positive, she pushes you when you feel like giving up. The gym was big & clean, well organized. Equipment was super nice and like new condition and the CrossFit athletes that are regulars there whe
An eclectic gift shop, clothing store, and fun shopping experience located in the heart of Cañon City. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable about the events and happenings in the area, and we left with maps and suggestions for things to do on f
Great 1.5 mile hike on the Royal Gorge Overlook Loop with just as good of views of the Royal Gorge as the park without the cost. The most scenic hike I've been on.

Definitely a blue black diamond trails in parts. Summer season itâs full of tourists who are enjoying the path as well. So just be mindful you wonât be able to send as much as you would like because you have to watch for p
