Amazing! I was able to provide a room to my brother and sister-in-law while attending my daughters wedding. They were very pleased with their room. My daughter and son-in-law stayed their wedding night. They were greeted with swan towels, rose petals and a bouquet of flowers. I thought I had booked a tub in their room (she loves her bubble baths). They still loved their room. My suite was very appreciated after the wedding. Very luxurious bedding, excellent shower and peace and quiet. Enjoyed coffee in the lobby and talking with the staff. Highly recommend anytime. Thank you for a wonderful ending to my daughters wedding day.
Wonderful welcome at the front desk. Nice environment and inviting. Beautiful room, clean and updated. Lots of available drinks. Beautiful balcony! We ate at the restaurant located on the bottom floor attached and had a WONDERFUL meal. Our waitress was Tracy and she was so sweet and knowledgeable! It was delicious!
The Rowland Hotel is an absolute gem. I brought my family of 6 from Texas to Salem to show them where I grew up and I was absolutely surprised at what we found with the Rowland Hotel. We run multiple 5 Star Airbnbs in Texas and I stay at JW Marriotts and other "luxury" hotels globally when traveling for work and, oh my, let me tell you the Rowland tops them. The rooms are super clean (not even a spec of dirt) and the employees are so nice. Exactly the kind of service you'd hope for but rarely get these days when traveling.
I honestly can't write a more positive review than this - it was just so wonderful and you are missing out if you don't stay here when in Salem, Virginia!

We had an excellent first stay ever at this wonderful hotel. We stayed in the Rowland Suite, which was impeccably clean and spacious. There was nothing more that we could ask for in a hotel room. The staff was kind and welcoming. We greatly enjoyed the convenience of a great restaurant just one floor below. Highly recommend this hotel!

Frankie Rowlands Restuarant Salem/Roanoke is our celebration place for special occasions for the past 22 years, attending 4 times a year (88 visits). We met Tara RH Manager at a pleasant table side chat, her thoughtfulness and customer attentiveness enhanced our special occasion. Tara and the staff at FR helped make our anniversary memorable. Another wonderful stay at the Rowland Hotel! Not only are the rooms elegant, the beds sumptuous and comfortable, but Tara, Tina, and Hannah always go above and beyond in service. They are gracious and welcoming, and they treat everyone like family. Rowland Hotel isn't far off 81, but it is within walking distance to shopping, bars, and restaurants. It is on the Main Street of a beautiful, quaint town. I always look forward to my next visit. See you soon Tara, Hannah, and Tina!
We needed to stay in Salem to support family in need a number of time in the past few months, and our stay at Rowland’s each time was fantastic—the comfortable and spacious rooms, the fluffy beds, and the beautifully designed bathrooms made the hotel a joy to return to each evening, and the easy access to Rowland’s restaurant and bar (I’d recommend the wedge salad and a French Martini) was a huge plus—but the thoughtful care that Tara, Tina, and Hannah and the restaurant manager offered was exceptional. Thanks, all, for a great stay. We will be back soon.

The Salem Museum is a first class, local history site. They have modern, informative exhibits, friendly staff, a beautiful facility, and awesome programs. Be sure to check out the ghost tours and surround cemetery. A must visit while in Salem!
This park is a favorite of ours. There is no playground, but instead there is a river that is always fun for kids to throw rocks in. If the water level is lower it is great for swimming as well. There is a section of pavement that is great for runnin
Great place for karaoke, people are Uber friendly regardless of who you meet. Drinks are decent, service is on point. Food was good for bar food. If you come to play pool bring cash :)
