A beautiful Mansion tucked away in Gallatin, TN. Lots of history! We were fortunate to have a member of the Guild Family (Original Owners) lead our tour. He was entertaining, knowledgeable and share many family stories. The Mansion is owned by the City and continually works to renovate and keep history alive. Beautifully manicured grounds; the Mansion is now in the National Register of Historic Places. Not accessible for wheel chairs; admission is $10. Well worth a visit.
Interesting place with an engaging tour. Great ability to interact with the property and the collection. There's a little too much of the "lost cause" in the tour but the experience of the enslaved is continuously acknowledged (not so much "the Yankees"). They actually have more verified detail of the lives of specific enslaved individuals than many other sites in the area. The architecture and physical details alone are worth the visit. In summer you can really experience the benefit of the seperate structures joined by breezy open porches. The horse farm aspect of the property and some post-bellum details make it unique among historic sites in this area.
