I spent 2 nights camping at Rose Canyon and was so pleased with my experience. June, camp host, at that front entrance of the campground was so friendly and helpful in getting us checked in. She went above and beyond to welcome and engage us and to get us clearly directed to our campsite. The grounds/sites were clean, no trash laying around, the area well managed with no 'rowdiness' among the campers. Every bathroom I visited either by my campsite or up at the Lake were exceptionally clean. I had a wonderful experience and look forward to returning again and again.
Why the heck does the Forrest service keep these horrible camp hosts??? I've come to this campground for over 40 years, you used to be able to count on friendly, happy, helpful hosts. The apparent managers of the host (older lady with puffy grey hair and older gent with short grey beard, I WISH I had got their names) are hell bent on making your stay as unpleasant as possible. First, we had no lose dogs, no loud noises etc and these people stopped repeatedly at our camp site to say one annoying thing or another, it's like they were baby sitting for crying out loud. Annoying, rude and unfriendly hosts?? REALLY? These same comments span across years of time yet there is nothing done about it, too bad they no longer care, I guess the lowest bidder wins. ||To be fair, the younger husband and wife camp host team closer to our spot (41 in the RV loop) we nice people and helpful and pleasant but they seemed to be under the thumb of the grumpy bosses. ||My question is WHY? Why keep these rude, intentionally annoying people in charge when it is ruining the stay of the families that come to enjoy the National Forrest??? We talked to the host and Spencer because we considered a move and what a great, kind, helpful person he was. WHY keep this rude couple people at ROSE????
This lake is clean and beautiful, sad to say as of now no one is supposed to swim it and no boats allowed at this time the water level is low. We didn't catch any fish but it was nice and cool out and the atmosphere is nice.
What a pleasant surprise it was to have two new campground hosts taking care of our loop this season. Tate and Tim were helpful, friendly and conscientious about their job duties. It was a pleasure to see happy, helpful hosts in the park this year! We hope they stick around.
It’s a nice place, the parking is small not to many cars allowed and when you parking you have to walk down the lake (3min) but it’s really beautiful there. During the summer it gets full pretty quick so we wait until evening to enter. You can fishing but not swimming or boat are allowed.
Gets crowded but once you find the spot, right rig, and bait you will catch your limit. Went with my family and kept 11 fish but caught more.
Went on mother's day. Parking is really limited. The lake was not overcrowded and there was plenty of Rainbow trout.
Great getaway from the heat and busy city. Hiking, camping, fishing, scenery and fresh air. One of my favorite getaways when in Tucson.
We actually stayed in a cabin and did not camp in a tent, as the rest of our group did for our annual retreat. However, we were at the campsites a good part of the day. The camp host was amazing! Friendly, accommodating, and kept both campsites cl
Beautifully wooded area. Seasonal water flow in the creek. Clean camp sites and outhouses. Food lockers to protect such from wildlife. Grills and fire rings. Nice first come first serve selection of sites. Does not accommodate large tents, no ho
Gorgeous spot, the drive up from Tucson is magical! You round a bend with rocks and desert all around, then suddenly ⦠boom Pine Forest. Bullfrog tadpoles were all over in Rose Canton Lake. Found a patch of snow at the top of the mountain in earl
I really enjoyed coming up here. First time coming up here and it was beautiful. Went for a run from the ski area to the top and will be coming back up here more.
