Sure the river is nice but the houses are bad I got atleast 20 stickers stuck in my food while inside the house and not to mention the scenery is garbage the tipped over pink huts or whatever and the gazebo thats broken and the canoe they offered had a hole in it and caused me and my friend to almost sink and also they charge 70$ for cleaning if you don't do it yourself which is insane considering the price to stay here
We have been coming to Roddy Tree for over 6 years and it has been a cherished vacation spot for some time. Recently, however, the property has been in need of maintenance and upkeep. We stayed in the Green gables house that has 6 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms for the weekend. The house is aging and shifting and needs simple to more extreme fixes. The first thing we noticed was a dead bat in the kitchen sink. It most likely came in through the chimney and was shriveled up. When the maintenance man came he brought a rat trap. He was nice and came quickly. The floor boards are also separating and can be a safety issue for little ones. There are also nests on the front porch and I'm not sure if they are wasps or bees or birds. The hooks in the restroom are practically all broken so if you want to hang your towel to dry you will need to find another spot. The AC/heat is also inconsistent across the entire house and while it will be scorching in the living room and kitchen, the bedrooms are freezing cold. I will say, the property is nice for walking, star gazing, and the little ones LOVED feeding the ducks. It breaks my heart to see the potential of this property wither away. Hopefully they can address these issues and revitalize the property.
Our annual girlfriends trip was spent at the Roost. Cabin was clean and ready for us. Any issue we had was immediately addressed by Michael. Needed some coffee and Michael was so open to adding it to his Walmart run…Television was our only drawback. Bring Senior ladies, Smart TV, Roku not easy technology for us. That was our only drawback. Would go again if the occasion came up..
I went yesterday afternoon to their Crawfish boil/Carnival event with live bands. The music was nice, weather was warm but not too hot, the crawfish weren't too expensive of $15 a plate with boiled corn and red potatoes and tasted pretty good not spicy.
This was our 2nd time to visit. We love how quite it is, the scenery, wildlife, cute cabins! We stayed in the Roost. It was very nice and peaceful. Enjoyed our time on the patio and the cabin was very clean. It had everything we needed and we didn't want to leave. We will be back when we can utilize the pool and the river to its fullest.
Our stay at Roddy Tree in the Wrangler Cabin was perfect for our family during the pandemic. We decided to visit family and needed a separate place to stay in order to maintain social distancing and keep everyone safe. We spent our days doing online school for the kids and the internet was flawless. The kids were able swim in the beautiful pool during lunch which was a treat. During the evenings we visited family.||||The area was quiet and it was so fun to explore the grounds, visiting the ducks, checking out the frogs, and saying hello to the donkeys. We miss you already Coco and Jake! The cabin had everything we needed to cook and it was an easy trip to HEB to purchase groceries (don't forget coffee!). The cabin was also equipped with a great supply of games and puzzles.||||Roddy Tree was exactly the rustic escape we needed. If you expect to be waited on at a moment's notice, this is probably not the place for you. If you want a quiet country stay to enjoy a beautiful part of Texas and warm evenings on the front porch playing music, this may be exactly what you are looking for. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!
We stayed at The Wrangler for the Memorial Day weekend. There were 4 adults and one teenager. The cabin was clean and the furniture was sturdy. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, bowls, utensils and the appliances were clean and relatively new. The bathroom in the larger bedroom was very nice with a shower and looked to have been recently remodeled. The other bathroom was much older and directly behind the kitchen, but had a nice tub and was large with a lot of counter space. Both bedrooms have king beds. The larger bedroom has a patio. The cabin has a lovely front porch with chairs and a swing to sit and enjoy the view. We could see the pool and the pavilion and the lovely hills. Roddy Tree ranch was ideal because there were lots of activities to do and grounds to walk within the ranch. Everyone was friendly. There is a tunnel access to the river and canoes to use. It is an ideal place for getting away. It is also convenient to Fredericksburg and Kerrville is just down the road. We will definitely plan to go again.
Green Gables house was fabulous for our 5 night stay. Huge deck overlooking the pond. The swimming pools were sparkling and we greatly enjoyed the river. Canoed and kayak. Day to trip to Enchanted Rock and Fredericksburg were so much fun. Had dinner at Billy Genes in Ingram and it was terrific.
