The recreation area is a old quarry and shipping dock. The area now has a boat ramp and numerous walking trails. Because of the past mining activity fossils of all kinds can be found. DNR passport required.
Hands down one of the coolest spots in Michigan. Amazing for paddle boarding swimming (deep clear water), snorkeling, fishing, stone hunting. Views are amazing. Old stone mine with clearest water you can imagine. Nice hiking trails. Pick a warm sunny day and you will be in awe. Well hidden gem close to Alpena, MI - not crowded and I hope it stays that way 🤞!
Even on a cloudy day Rockport inspires with its Beauty! Rockport has amazing views of the Lake as well as a a bunch of cool rock fields. Super awesome if you’re looking for which state park to go to. There is one bathroom by the parking area which can fit around 20-30 cars
Visited this park mid July on a Saturday. I was surprised the parking lot wasn't filled up when we arrived. Although this park is a little off from the beaten path, it is a great place to get away from people. Pack a lunch, enjoy some sunshine and hunt for rocks and/or hike some trails. There is a vault bathroom near the parking lot. I will definitely be stopping here again!
We have been coming here for the past three years as we travel through Michigan. My son loves looking for fossils and I like the hiking. There are miles of trails, and you can also walk along the rocky beach. There are several fossils here int he mine. Potoski, horned coral, branching coral, crinoids... I always see other people collecting when I come. The next time I will need to bring my rock hammer. The deer flies can be bothersome along the trails.
Very interesting and historical place. Well worth a visit. I'll be back. Recommended!
Beautiful place , went in late October. Keep in mind the more rustic the place the more horse flies there will be. Some jeans and a thicker shirt and you should be golden. The path up the rock hill isn't too bad, wear the right shoes and you'll be glad you went up. :D
Wow this place is beautiful. And was a ghost town when we went. It's really pretty. It was quite windy so the waves were crashing and splashing. It was fun to walk around and explore. Lots of rocks sift through as well. Note: It's down a dirt road so it's a bit bumpy but in my opinion worth it.
My husband and I drove here to go fishing early morning during labor day weekend. It was nice and quiet. The water was shallow so we only got bluegills. At night there's no lights and you can hear some movement in the woods it can be pretty daunting.
Beautiful beach â± ð Water was super clear (little chilly at first) Beach area was really nice and clean. Plenty of parking, easy to find. Amazing place to make memories ðð¤ð§¡ð
Always enjoyable. Actors and crew put their hearts into the performances. We've been season ticket holders since the 80s . The only downfall is accessibility for handicapped folks.
Cozy shop with local merch including upscale tshirts, sweatshirts, magnets, stickers, mugs and decor. I always stop in and purchase something when I'm in the area.
What a hidden gem in my small town!!! . Absolutely amazing food . The potato soup I'm the bread bowl is literally 11/10. The food is very fresh and the staff is super nice. 10/10 most definitely recommend. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite
Awesome place! Oldest Miniature Golf course in the state! Someone mentioned that it is closed, that is not the case - it's only open in the summertime. Be sure to also check out The Hungry Hippie located just beside it!
This store almost never disappoints. They have an excellent meat counter and a really good dips homemade. Their meatloaf mix is to die forâ£ï¸ Even though they're a small IGA, Perch's most times have everything I need. You do have to watch for date
I donât normally do reviews, but this place deserves praise. I ordered the Golabki burger with the sweet potato waffle fries with a side of zesty sauce, and itâs my favorite dish in town. I called it in, walked in 15 minutes later sat down and it
They have a beer for everyone. My wife ended up liking 3 beers and usually she likes one if that. Great Menu with Huge Portions at a great price. The service is impeccable. Lots of space during inclement weather, even more space when itâs nice out.
Our first time in and it was wonderful, the burger was delicious and our waitress was so friendly and helpful! The hoo fries are incredible! 10/10 would recommend for the personal friendly atmosphere!
Although it is rated as being only a Four star Establishment in this review, please be aware that is only because the kitchen was closed when I arrived and has been unable to try the cuisine offered here!¡! Service and Atmosphere both receive Five s
This little coffee shop provided me with a healthy filling quick option which I struggle with as I am Gluten and Lactose free. The food was fresh and the staff was very kind about my diet requests. Chill comfy local vibe.
