My husband and I stayed at the Rock house hideaway at the end of September, in the Guest House. The accommodations were beautiful and very comfortable. We loved having a front and back porch to enjoy the view. The property is about 2 miles west of downtown Main Street and has a big house, tank house and big New Barn for weddings and events. We would highly reccommed this property for family event or couples retreat.

Communication was good. The property is well-maintained and the finishes are first class. There is a great covered porch for relaxing, a glass of wine and reading. The 2-3 miles from town is mitigated by the country setting. It is near the highway, but the noise was not a big problem. The bedroom is upstairs with access via a pretty tight circular staircase, but it is very navigatable. Lots of wildlife. We saw deer, sheep and a turkey (with five chicks) in our front yard (see pic). We would stay here again.

We arrived to the really cute "Tank House" with a reservation for a two night stay. The first night, we climbed the tiny spiral stairwell to the most awful bed I've ever in my life slept in. It was so bad, I was trying to figure out if I could sleep on the "sofa" but it wasn't even the size of a love seat. The next thought was "my truck would be more comfortable." The next morning, we fixed coffee (no creamer available) and sat on the cute front porch, just to hear the highway noise and look at a beautiful view of an RV Park directly in front of us. ||||The next night, we decided we would rather face a 4 1/2 hour drive back home and lose the cost of the stay than to sleep in that bed again. ||||In addition, my husband had booked a couples massage, however, we never heard anything more regarding that.||||Be warned... this is a VERY TINY three story silo. Walking into the main floor, you have a sitting area with furniture that's really not designed to be sat in. On the same main floor is a reasonably accomodating bathroom, probably, the best room in the place. A room that barely qualifies as a kitchenette, is located downstairs off the bath in the basement. The kitchenette has no running water, or even a dry sink. ||||The bedroom is on the third floor and the spiral staircase is so tight that it's impossible to haul yourself with your luggage up them. If you are tall, beware, the ceiling height and door openings are low.||||The only place to actually relax is on the aforementioned bed and that bed takes up 90% of the space in the bedroom, where the only television is. ||||Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website. While decorated tastefully, the Tank House is a difficult place to stay in. ||||Parking is extremely difficult. The parking surface is some sort of crushed stone making it impossible for the wheels on your luggage to be of any use. So be prepared to carry your luggage and walk a moderate distance.

I always do extensive research on accommodations when traveling (for work or leisure) and I mean spreadsheets and flow charts kind of research!!||In weighing the pros and cons, I must say Rock Hill was not our first choice as the other rentals on the grounds were situated fairly close to each other. This trip was a girls weekend and I was concerned we may have a little too much wine and disturb the other guests. However the location was ideal and the property looked incredible. I booked our stay in the guest house and just hoped we’d not recreate our high school drinking games from the 90’s! January is off peak time for the area and as luck would have it there were no other guests booked. We had the entire property to ourselves, no one in the main house, tank house or the barn. Just us ladies and we couldn’t have been happier! Gorgeous views, perfect location, beautiful decor and extremely comfortable. Our wine guide even picked us up and dropped us at our front door!! We are already planning our next trip and bringing the husbands.

We stayed for two nights, during the week, in the Guest House. Accomodations were great and the property was quiet. Couldn't tell if this was a true B&B, but breakfast is not part of the package. Don't worry, there are more than enough places in town for excellent breakfasts. Will definitely return, even with a large group of friends for taking the wine tour.

Several buildings set up as a wedding venue or family reunion. Two sides of the view are big metal fences put there to block a road and an RV park. Rear is a pretty, if small, hay field and some trees. Manager having issues with cleanliness. - cobwebs on wood furniture, broken chair, no washcloth, zero coffee creamer and/or sugar, very loud screen door with no automatic spring, many dead bugs in pantry, wood floor downstairs had not been swept or mopped because dead bugs abound, etc.... Unkept plants cover the flowerbed statues/decor. Very small front yard in main house so the metal fences is the view. Photos may appear otherwise. Rear side yard is lovely though. Parking is a distance from house. Den couch is loveseat size. Very steep small stairs to bedrooms which are all upstairs. One shower, no tub. Dining room table could sit ten. Well equipped kitchen except for only one towel and coffee fixings. Not recommend for children or handicap or clean freaks. I only saw inside the main house. The actual owner was concerned about the lack of attention to detail of his staff so hopefully the situation will improve.

We were in town for a Midel A tour and decided to stay with 4 other couples at the Hideway wonderful old century home with all the comforts of home. Very spacious grounds and extremely close to the center of Town. Wonderful place. Highly recommend.

My wife and I recently stayed in the Guest House and loved the place! Ben has done a great job with the furnishings....felt like home. The property is very convenient to downtown Fredricksburg. Just a great place and it was very clean.
