We LOVE taking our train loving toddler here for picnics. Also a great place to stop on a road trip. Trains go by all the time. There are heated bathrooms (but there are not changing tables in the bathrooms). Park is handicap accessible. I've never been there when the museum/gift shop is open.
What a fun surprise! We were lucky enough to see some trains pass through and chat with a train enthusiast who gave us some history of the rail lines. It was a great pit stop on a long road trip!
2023: Free admission, free parking. Souvenir stand/bathrooms open year round (hours vary) Lots of benches and picnic tables, Gazebo gives shade from the sun and shelter from the rain. BNSF/UP scanner frequencies posted, but there's also a speaker which broadcasts scanner info in real time, if you don't have one. Great place for railfanning. Watch the kids; this isn't a park or playground....if you have "enthusiastic railfans" in your group, maybe educate them on photo-line etiquette so they're not running around in front of other people's cameras. Remember also, there's live public web-cams so watch what you say and do. 2018: Free admission, free parking. Little gift/coffee shop open 10-5 six days a week (closed Tuesday). Several covered areas with picnic tables, and a BBQ pit. Not a playground (!!!) But I've seen families here enjoying the trains go by. Nice to just hang out, talk to people, watch BNSF and Union Pacific...
I love coming down here. If you are a train buff then you will find your people here! I come down because I love to photograph the graffiti and the kiddos just love watching the trains go by. It's a wonderful way to pass a beautiful day.
Great place to come for a picnic and to sit and watch the trains roll by. I've lived nearby all my life and didn't know about the existence of this park until I read about it in a travel book. If you're a train lover like I am, you'll love it.
Cool place, nice stop on way to Chicago. The place was clean and well kept. Solid information there, also good views and a train came through which the kids loved. There is a lot to see but nothing really to do, so it will be a quick stop.
Absolutely loved it. There's a train kids can play on, my niece & nephew loved it. It's so amazing watching the trains go by. Completely free, although there's a gift shop with train merchandise, (not sure if their open). It's also really neat that you can tune into a radio station to see what trains are coming.
Nice little Park to visit. There were a lot of like-minded railroaders there today when I visited. The park is very nice and the displays are interesting. It is next to a main line railroad so you have to be careful with young children.

You can tell the chefs truly care about food here. Everything I've ever ordered has been delicious! The decor is also very charming and welcoming. I like to come here with friends or date night ð
I haven't eaten here in years. Even before the Tornado hit. So this is basically my first time here. I was surprised at the creative options on the menu. Found many things I wanted to try. Almost ordered the "Horse"... I was quite pleased with
Amazing fried chicken. Cole slaw was the bomb - that's a good thing. Menu is extensive, something for everyone. Staff is very informative and accommodating. I will definitely be back. A must to eat at!
