Robert Johnson House of the Historic Inns of Annapolis - Featured Reviews (57)
Such a cute hotel to stay in downtown Annapolis. So nice. We absolutely loved it. Very close to everything. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Annapolis for a night or two.
Nice room. Great location. Somebody had smoked recently when we walked in and they were willing to change rooms for us, but since they told us it was supposed to be smoke free we stayed and the smell disappeared fairly quickly. The valets are great and will drop off your car whenever needed during the day. It was the perfect spot for a little weekend getaway.
The Historic Inns of Annapolis are our favorite place to get away as a couple. We have stayed in the Maryland House, The Calvert House and now the Robert Johnson House.
The Johnson House was a nice, comfortable experience. We enjoyed our view and it was clean and beautiful as Always!
My one quam in room 2312 was the shower. The handle was wonky, making it impossible to regulate the temperature adequately. It was either too hot or a bit too cold. I was also standing in a puddle of water at my feet. My husband says I am too picky. Maybe so, but hey, some of you out there are like me. It may be this one room. The front desk didn't ask me how our stay was, otherwise I would have told them.
I wouldn't not stay at the Robert Johnson, it's very lovely. We will just shoot for reservations at The Calvert earlier next time, as it is our personal favorite. We love the architecture and the rooms are a bit more private and generously sized.
Ohh and pay for parking in advance, otherwise you will be inconvenienced by finding parking. We didn't realize this.We had an infant with us and it was a bit of a drag to walk a half mile to our car with a plethora of baby stuffs in tow.
Great location, walking distance to downtown Annapolis. Room is tastefully decorated with a a historic atmosphere. A/C was not working on arrival, but was repaired within the hour. Unit was unusually noisy when trying to sleep. Biggest concern is the parking at night. $28 for overnight parking in garage, or you need to move your vehicle every two hours up until 8:30pm to avoid getting ticket or tow. Still over all, nice place to stay when in town.
Room was clean, but in need of repair. This morning, as I stepped into the bathroom, a large tile came loose from the floor, almost causing me to trip. The electrical outlets on the desk and end tables worked sometime and sometime not. The coffee maker didn’t work. The iron had a broken electrical cord and was very difficult to use. Room service did not replenish full suite of towels, water, etc.; each day they forgot to replace some item. One day, room service was still cleaning adjacent rooms and the hallway at 5pm, which resulted in doors being loudly slammed repeatedly by the service staff, to the point myself and others were peeking out of their room doors to see what was going on.
Of special note, the WiFi connection is poor and reminded me of the old dial-up days of the late 1990’s. A friend in another room and I finally gave up trying to get any work emails done on our computers, due to the poor and extremely slow connection. Worst WiFi connection I’ve ever had in any hotel...ever.
Perhaps my experience was unique, but it was subpar and I’d not stay here again.
Our two night stay was delightful and accommodations (RJohnson Building) were also. Our room was impecably clean, comfortable, quiet, and beautifully decorated. This location was ideal for our first time in Annapolis. We easily walked everywhere! Food and drink options were amazing. We highly advise a guided USNA tour and would definitely stay here again!!!
Great location and the price was reasonable. About $109 a night. We were in Annapolis for a wedding and I can't imagine a more ideal location than where the Robert Johnson is. It was convenient to everything. You are just a few steps from Main St. where all the shops and restaurants are. Nearby are the Naval Academy and the waterfront area. It is right on State Circle which is very picturesque but also quiet because the street isn't very large.
The room was smaller than in a modern hotel but adequate. The bathroom was very narrow. One more mirror would have been nice as well. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. They have free wifi but we didn't check it out.
Robert Johnson House is run by Historic Inns of Annapolis which has 2 other inns as well. One downside is that there is no lobby at Robert Johnson and you have to check in at the Governor Calvert House on the other side of State Circle. It is not that inconvenient. Just pull up at Governor Calvert, go in and get checked in, then hop back in the car and go round the circle and unload at Robert Johnson.
I am not sure about the week but on the weekend there is a garage about 4 blocks away where you can park for free. Everything is so close that we didn't need the car all weekend so it was perfect. The other option is valet parking for $20 a day.
Stayed two nights. Room recently renovated beautifully! Only annoyance was needing to have key cards reset after 1st night for which I was given complimentary breakfast.
