Roan Mountain State Park - State park in Roan Mountain - 527 TN-143, USA

One of my absolute favorite spots on this earth! Come here regularly to hike the Grassy Ridge Bald trail. 5 miles, fairly moderate, anyone with a decent pair of hiking boots can do it, and extremely beautiful with panoramic views! I do my best to show someone this hike every time I go because everyone should check this place out. For those who are a bit inexperienced with elevation, it's typically a bit colder up here, if you're coming from areas of lower elevation.

This place was amazing. Stop by the visitors center for all your info and directions. While there you can take a loop hike that starts right off the office steps. JUST MAKE SURE YOU BRING A WALKING STICK, if you need help walking, or its damp out there. It is not a stroll. Once on the trail you can take the path to the mine ( new wood steps to get there. The walk was awesome. Then drive to the top and walk up the path (lots of parking and people walking up and down to get to the top)! The view is amazing! Cant wait to go back to see the sun rise!

Just breathe taking views; try to make time to stop at each place along the park route and enjoy nature! You will want to return and enjoy the flowers later! Loved the twist and turn seeing the fall colors pop!

Had a wonderful experience. Park staff and park rangers were amazing, helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely plan to revisit the park in warmer weather.

I love Roan Mountain. It's a great place to go if you need a break from reality. The Miller Farmstead is my favorite place on earth and the Chestnut Ridge Overlook is perfect.

Roan Mountain State Park is a beautiful, affordable State Park! Also, it boasts dark skies for stargazing & astronomy (which I greatly appreciate, as an amateur astronomer). We had a fantastic time hiking Roan Mountain! It has absolutely amazing views and gorgeous flowers!

The best scenery. Stunning 360 views even if you don't hike for long. I have done some backpacking around here too and there are so many great spots to pitch a tent and lots of other backpackers on the trails.

Went to the Rhododendron Festival and I have to say for all the hype I expected more, not a whole lot of vendors unless you were in need of a walking stick or some soap. More food vendors than anything else. The drive to the top of the mountain had some beautiful views.
