We loved staying here! We travel a lot and the first thing I look at when booking reservations is the reviews on cleanliness. We had 4 rooms for 3 nights and we all had extremely clean and comfortable rooms. No bugs, no dirt or dust, no cob webs, and no gross showers. Clean kitchenettes and drinking glasses I didn't have to wash prior to use. It's truly adorable and I could see that the owners work really hard to make it a wonderful place to visit. We will definitely be back.
Loved EVERYTHING about this place. We had one side of the duplex studio and enjoyed the living space. Clean and well furnished. The patio on the river was a HUGE bonus. We had coffee there every morning. Plenty of places to eat between here and Medford, just 30 minutes away. Shady Cove is a pleasant community near Crater Lake, Rogue River Gorge and Natural Bridge. We were sad when it was time to leave.
I absolutely loved our stay, wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful room, nice seating on the river and a super friendly and helpful lady in the office. We accidentally left clothes behind hanging in there armiore and she’s mailing them to us tomorrow. You won’t find better hospitality anywhere.
Room #19. Very clean, spacious, tastefully decorated room. Loved the small deck and patio over the river. Friendly and accommodating staff. Only spent one night, but would definitely return.
My husband and I were really disappointed in our stay July 5 at Riverfront Lodging. We arrived around 5 PM, and the man at the desk said that there was a problem with the power being out. (The temperature in Shady Cove was 108 degrees.) He was vague about how long it had been out, and said he didn't know when it would be fixed. His mom on the phone said between 5 and 6 PM. The room was too hot to stay in, but nobody said anything like "sorry about the power, here's a cold bottle of water/ credit on your account/or credit towards getting dinner in the next town over--nothing. The mom on the phone said I could cancel my reservation because she know she could get someone to take the room anyway. She suggested we sit on the deck by the river in the heat and wait for the power to come back on. I had a discussion with the desk clerk about getting some kind of a discount on the room (no electricity, no TV, nothing that helps when it's 108 outside). He said the power might be on between 6 and 7. We left at 6:45 PM --no power yet--and came back in a few hours, since it was the 4th of July weekend and there was nothing available anywhere nearby. There was finally power when we returned from our drive. |There was no hairdryer in the room, but the front office closed at 10 PM, so I couldn't ask. There was a lot of water on the floor by the fridge from the freezer defrosting, which we tried to mop up with a towel. We left before the office opened at 8 AM. || The reservation was booked directly through the hotel 2 weeks in advance, I gave my credit card number and we received an email showing the total. At no time was I told that there would be an extra charge for using my credit card, and it didn't show up in the June 21 email showing the room cost and tax and total for my reservation that they sent me. ||I emailed Riverfront Lodging about these problems, but have yet to hear from them. |Making a profit seems more important than customer service.
PROS: Staff nice. Friendly check-in process. Rooms are nicely decorated. Location is convenient to eateries (most within walking distance). CONS (basic room/2-night reservation): Hardwood floors dirty (can feel/picked up sand/dirt on feet), window air conditioner is in "bathroom" and is VERY small (temps in Shady Cove during stay was high 90's, AC air flow doesnt reach into main room, unbearable heat hampering sleep), no hair dryer, no soap/gel for shower (you use same little soap bar for sink and shower), shower VERY small 30"x30" (shower door leaks ... significant amount of water on bathroom floor), TV display cut off both ends of picture (4:3 display instead of 16:9), noise (woke up 7:30am to sound of power saw, hammer, etc near office - not sure why if you know construction taking place, you wouldn't assign room farthest away from where contruction going to occur). CONCLUSION: I ended up not staying the second night as I could not sleep due to how hot the room was. I just drove home for 8 hours in the wee hours of the morning just to enjoy the AC in my car. I travel extensively, and this hotel is in my top 3 worst. I cannot recommed it.
We accidentally booked the wrong night but the owners were so kind and easygoing about making it work that they deserve a five star review for this family run hotel. Recommend the rooms by the river!
