River Tavern - New American restaurant in Chester - 23 Main St, USA

A great find that is highly recommended by locals. Daily updated menu. Attentive staff and wonderful food. Our party of 4 each enjoyed their meal, drinks and desserts. The restaurant is small. Make a reservation! It fills quickly. And get there early enough to browse in the shops in downtown Chester. Wonderful unique privately owned shops up and down the street.

Delicious food and artisanal drinks. Great staff. Gluten free options. Our favorite restaurant in this area and We are from over an hour away. Staff (Noah) was our waitress both times we visited and she was great at helping us make our food and drink selections! We had the swordfish and cod with lobster sauce over mashed potatoes…both were amazing!

I had a great time here this weekend. The food is delicious. The bartender, Miller, is amazing. He makes the most magical drinks. My friends and I will be back. I highly recommend this place.

The wine list is carefully and professionally crafted. I would come back for the wine list and the atmosphere. I was disappointed not find more meatless options, but only two, a burrata and a baby greens salad, but I understand that most people prefer a dish with some type of meat. So, for those who like meat this is a very good option.

Went out here with my family. Good food and friendly staff. There are so many wonderful places to try in this area, but if you are looking for a quick bite or a drink with beautiful outdoor seating then this is your place.

Lovely atmosphere, warm, calm, and clean. I ordered the scallop pasta dish. The chefs prepared the scallops perfectly, light sear on the exterior and juicy, soft interior. Well done. I was not fond of the pasta, undercooked and tossed with an insipid sauce. Would return to try another dish.

Did take out here and they add 20% gratuity for the kitchen when you order take out which is fine since the bartender made that very clear. We told her we were gonna be at little house brewery and she delivered the food right to us (across the street). We did have to grab the cutlery at the bar at the brewery which was fine. We ordered the pork buns which were good but would had liked more hoisin and sour pickles vs. sweet. We also ordered the burger at medium but it was over cooked by the time it arrived. It was good and juicy but at the same time it was missing some flavor and could have used ketchup or more aioli. They also cut the burger in half for us since we were sharing. The French fries were delicious and perfect! They had a nice amount of salt. I would ask for some ketchup next time so I could dip them. We also got the eggplant casserole which was good but needed some salt and may be better over pasta but a nice no carb dish! It was similar to an eggplant parm. You could tell they use quality ingredients. It was awesome how they easily delivered the food to us! The staff was friendly too! Overall a nice experience and they have a lot of great variety of alcohol at their bar. Would like to try them at their restaurant too!

Went to dinner last night at this incredible restaurant. I had the Roasted Shad and others had the Rib Eye and the Tofu Bowl. All of them absolutely perfection. The Caesar Salad met my approval and I consider myself to be one of the best AUTHENTIC Caesar Salad experts. Their Caesar is authentic. Now for the dessert . . . Baked Date Pudding with Caramel-Rum Sauce -- there are no words. One has to try it to experience it. If you go just for that, it's worth the trip.
