Great little hideout for lunch or dinner. Good hot food. Fast service. Cashier was a little off-putting, no greeting or no smiles. But served food fast.
Delicious, classic San Diego Mexican food. Slightly off the main boulevard so you have to look for it a bit. Great food and generous portions.

The grilled fish burrito off of their lite menu was better than anticipated. Very hot and large. Avocado salsa was tasty. The chicken taco plate was good and hot as well.

Rita's has been our"Go to" for years.my faimly ,friends Co-workers etc...(alot of people) I have never in at least 15 to 20 years had a complaint untill lastnight. Something drastically has changed.The food even taste different. We had 6 people eating with us and we all agreed Rita's has changed hands or something? The salsa is even the same. The beef tacos and enchiladas inside tastes like canned shredded beef. The whole experience was horrible.. We want OG Rita's back!!! Sorry for the negitive review but upset me it was that bad!!!!

Today is the first time I have ever walked out Rita's, without ordering. I ordered then before completing the told the young lady to forget it, I will go elsewhere. I had ordered a Flying Saucer without Guacamole or Sour Cream. Instead of shredded beef or chicken, I wanted ground beef. I was told that would be an up charge. So I asked "do I get a credit for the Guacamole and Sour Cream?" To which I was flatly told "No!" Hence I left!
A shredded beef taco and a ground beef taco are the same price...but to exchange them is an up charge? All the years or should I say decades, I have always ordered without Guacamole and Sour Cream and never even considered asking for a credit. But to up charge from shredded beef, to ground beef...is absolutely ridiculous!
I could understand this if ground beef was not already on their menu.
Do not get me wrong, Rita's Mexican food is absolutely worth going for. I just will never again order a Flying Saucer. I will just place the same order that I always have, no trying something different.

The tortas are delicious! We also tried the daily special of carnitas in salsa verde. The hot sauces are bomb, I would come back just for the 5 different types of sauces. We can't wait to come back and try something else!
