I am saddened to hear that the fire destroyed this wonderful little getaway. My husband and I stayed here November 2023 and we loved it. I hope you are able to rebuild and recapture the magic of Rio Tierra Casitas.

If you are looking for a place to stay outside of Phoenix, or on your way across the Southwest, look no further. Rio Tierra Casitas is fabulous. Just off the 60 highway, but feels like another environment from the moment you go through their gate. The Mexicasa was very well stocked for a small kitchen, and Mark was kind enough to buy us some groceries too, because we were just getting off a long flight. Breakfast on the patio, looking out on the oasis was magical. We love art and local culture, so this place was perfect in so many ways. And we had the good fortune to spend the morning with Mark exploring the Hassayampa River Preserve. If ever near Phoenix again, we will be sure to come back!!!

All good. Very nice western experience casitas. Always working toward enhancing the experience. Owners are artists and very consciousness in relating to their guests. Located along Hwy. 60 but situated such that the highway noise is blocked. Just about 3 miles into town and about 27 miles by highway into Surprise. Highly recommended!

Anyone with a slightest artist's eye can see the care and attention to detail that has gone into remaking Rio Tierra Casitas. Every corner of the property has Mark and Laura's (the owners) personal touches - paintings, homemade decor, and art. I stayed in the Cowboy Casita, and it feels like home as soon as you walk into the house. If you're feeling sociable, make sure you hang out with the owners for what they call "Howdy Hour". It's located right next to the nature preserve, so there are frequent animals that come to visit along the back fence. It's definitely the wild west, so bring a blacklight flashlight to look for scorpions at night if you're feeling daring. Great for getting away from the crowded city and spending some time in peace.

My Girlfriend and I were traveling from NV/UT to Kay L Ranch and wanted to spend a day in Wickenburg. Mark & Laura were very helpful as SWA cancelled our flight and we ended up driving to Wickenburg AZ. Great communications and directions as Rio Tierra Casitas its a tricky turn off the freeway. Look for the arrow. We stayed in the large casita closest to the road and enjoyed all the attention to Rancho-Mexicali décor with great attention to detail. Comfortable beds and peaceful setting. We both wish we could have stayed longer and hope to return.

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary this place is extraordinary. We spent a week in an adorable casita with so much character. The bed was comfy and the kitchen had everything you could need. Close to town. The owners were very kind and accommodating. If the weather had been a bit warmer we could have enjoyed a campfire in the evening. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in the area.

I loved my stay at Mexicasa casita! It is so uniquely decorated, very clean and comfortably furnished. Laura and Mark are not only the most gracious hosts, but also artists and musicians. Their attention to every detail shows with the welcome treats, luxurious linens and balcony for morning coffee and afternoon reads. I hope to return for another visit!

I stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the quaint casita, the quiet evenings on the deck and the wonderful home made banana bread Kate prepared. The hospitality was wonderful and they made sure the entire experience was perfect, including cream for our coffee in our refrigerator each morning. The walk along the river, strolling the grounds and relaxing with a good book were very enjoyable! Truly, a place I will return! Outstanding experience!

Such a beautiful place. The lake was so blue and clear. It was a crisp, cool day but perfect for walking and exploring. I enjoyed my visit and will be back.
