We had a large group of family and friends come in to town for the weekend and the customer service was very accommodating. All the reservations went very smooth. We will definitely use the Rio Guadalupe again.
Campground was very clean and well organized. The on-site convenience store carries a good amount of basic stuff. The cabin and rooms were clean and the a.c. worked well. The staff does a good job of keeping non paying guests out of the area. The staff was helpful and answered any questions I had promptly.
This place is AMAZING!! However, I'm giving it only 3 stars because of one of their employees named Afton. We (my family reunion of about 20 people) were all having a nice day swimming and hanging out down by the river when, out of nowhere a drunk lady walked right passed me and started disciplining MY kid (16 year old son) for allegedly throwing rocks at the ducks swimming by. I politely spoke up and let her know that she needed to speak to ME not my son, which by the way he was not doing what she was accusing him of because I was sitting next to him. She repeatedly ignored me like I wasn't even there and kept yelling at my son. By that time my entire family was trying to get her to stop yelling at my son but she still continued. FINALLY, I got her to talk to me and she started threatening to get all of us kicked out of the park because she knew someone (Afton) that worked there. She had 2 or 3 people with her that were also repeatedly telling her to calm down. Not long after they left Afton came down and spoke to me and my family. When I tried to explain to her what happened she literally stuck her finger in my face and told me that she wasn't interested in what I had to say and that she was going to talk first. She basically threatened to kick us all out if we didn't "Stop harassing the guests." That was the part I didn't understand because we were not the ones who started this whole mess. We were all just trying to have a good day on the river when her friend, the drunk lady, walked over and approached my son. Other than that the park itself was great! The live band on Saturday night were awesome and played 60's, 70's & 80's rock. The view was absolutely GORGEOUS from our balcony. I didn't really like the fact that we had to bring our own kitchen utensils since we paid so much for the place. Also, we brought 2 extra people with us that decided to come several months after we booked and they wanted to charge us $250 more for our 4 night stay. That's after we had already paid over $1,700. The cabin itself was 2 story's but incredibly small. It fit literally 8 people exactly with no room for even a small air mattress. Despite the very unprofessional and rude manager we would absolutely stay here again :)
Great RV park. Can't speak about the cabins, because I've never rented one. They look great though. Nice, clean RV park right next to the river. The only negative I could say would be the hours of operation for the office. Weird hours for a tourist spot?? This was our second time, and probably not our last. Very pleased.
Nice park right on the Guadalupe River. It has great river access and a nice pool. The staff was very friendly at check in. This was our first visit and we arrived after hours. We drove right past the entrance because the sign says keep right so we assumed there was another entrance for RV’s. The sites where a little confusing until I realized they are all “buddy style”. So your back to back and face to face with your neighbors. Luckily we knew our facing neighbor. The site we were in was very unleveled and we had to hook back up to pull up on blocks. The park is all gravel so it’s very dusty. None of these are bad things really, as long as you know what your getting. I’d say it’s probably a little pricey considering those factors. Overall we had a great time and will visit again.
My family and I purchased tickets for the shuttle to float the river. Our driver was really nice, informative and helpful. Once we were on the river, I realized I had forgotten my phone on the shuttle and immediately panicked because it was 3pm and they closed at 5pm. I immediately called and although they were slammed, the staff was beyond helpful and were willing to put my phone in our truck for me since we wouldn’t make it back before they closed and were leaving town the next day! They made me a priority and I can’t thank them enough!!! We were guests at Camp Fimfo, but we have plans to return to the area and we will definitely be staying at Rio Guadalupe Resorts because their hospitality is unmatched!!!
Had an incredible weekend at Rio. Debbie and team were super welcoming and friendly. They all offered so much help when we stopped in to get shirts in the shop. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, and AC was super cold. The view of the river were incredible and access to float was incomparable. I would stay here again but next time bring my dogs.
About a month ago, I had scheduled 3 nights in a cabin with two rooms which was over $300 per night, for June 6-9th. I had already checked in today over the phone and been given the code to my cabin. While we were shopping in Gruene, and just a short time before the front office was closing, I was called and told I would be switched to a smaller cabin. I had paid for a two bedroom cabin and was told the evening of our stay, an hour after check-in, that I was being moved to an efficiency (a cabin which allows pets- my previous room was intentionally a pet-free cabin). They didn’t even ask if we had allergies & I found out later on the website it was a pet cabin. I was initially told there was a problem with the cabin I had booked & it couldn’t be rented out. I told the employee I wanted to make sure there really was a problem with the room and not just that it was given to someone else and she hemmed & hawed & said she’d have to check w/maintenance.Then a manager came on the line and said the cabin I had booked had originally been booked by someone else and then it was cancelled by mistake by Rio Guadalupe and that family had been coming there for 25 years so they needed to give the family the room back. I’ve also been coming there for close to 20 years with family, friends, etc. so that was kind of slap in the face. We were put in a smaller efficiency cabin and told we’d be refunded the difference (obviously, since I’m being put in a cheaper room) & comped on tubes. My biggest issue was that they didn’t even ask if this was ok. I had already been checked in over the phone and been given the room password for my original larger cabin and then they called me right before they were closing to tell me I would be moving cabins, because of their mistake. The manager, Afton, literally does not belong in customer service, at all. She was really rude and unprofessional.
