The life guards are attentive and they have them at every part of the pool. I’m so glad they had enough to open the slide. My niece was excited to try it out but we were told that if they didn’t have enough lifeguards, it wouldn’t open. If you have children under 18 years of age, they make you do a swim test in order to go to the deep end and to ride the slide. The kids have to tread water for a minute then swim to the other side of the pool(I think 25m…don’t quote me on that though). They give 2 separate wrist bands. One for slide and one for deep end. I believe the offer a long term(more than one day) band but I don’t know what the prerequisites are for it. They have a kiddie pool available. Some shaded areas with chairs. Life vests for all sizes. The bathrooms aren’t the cleanest but it’s a pool so I expected it. Love that it’s right on base and free!!! We brought in snacks and made a whole day of it. The girls had a blast!
Our favorite pool out of all the MWR pools. Great kid pool area, only 18" deep. Main pool is nice and starts at 4 ft deep. A few diving boards in the deep end and also a large water slide the drops off into the deep end. Usually 4-5 lifeguards in duty. Plenty of lawn chairs, patio benches, picnic benches and a pavilion for parties. Bathrooms have lockers, showers, restrooms and changing tables for babies. There is a nice privacy fence surrounding the perimeter for my privacy from the roads around. Hours are usually 11-1700 everyday but closed on Tuesdays. There is a snack bar with a good selection and good prices. They do except debit and credit card.
This pool was clean and well if not overstaffed. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Bring the whole family. There is a right size pool for all of you.
Still under COVID rules. They take some basic info for COVID tracing purposes so I feel comfortable about them taking precautions. Open at the top of the hour for 45 minutes of swimming then everyone needs to clear out to enable sanitizing and cleaning and reopens again at the top of the hour. Lots of room for lap swimming. Started going last week after work and have gone a couple times this week. Definitely will continue going - hopefully at least 3 times a week.
Great pool for lap swimming. But there is no shower curtain in the female shower, and a boy around 6 or 7 years old, not accompanied by parent, will stare at you. Ask the staff, she said that’s pretty normal, parent will bring underage kid in. Hmmm, not feel comfortable
Great clean pool! They have a slide you can use for about $2 a diving pool, laps, and kiddie pool. We always enjoy our time there.
This place has 3 pools. The main pool (Olympic size) is 4 feet from end to end. It has a water slide and is sectioned with a few swimming lanes and a large wading area, the latter is where the water slide exits. Some of the tiles on the floor of the main pool are broken and if you aren't careful you can cut your feet. The deep pool is graded from 4 feet to 15 feet deep. It has two high diving platforms over the deep end. Not sure of the heights of the two diving platforms. The kids wading pool is 18 inches deep. The Army uses these pools for physical training in the mornings. It's a spectacle to see them all in full utility uniform running in the swim lanes. Specialized aquatic physical therapy is performed here on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6am to 8am, but requires a referral from an Army Medical Care manager. The temperature of the water is quite a bit cooler than the beautiful oceans surrounding the island. The air is cooler up here, due to the higher elevation, and therefore the average water Temps in the pools follow suit.
Richardson Pool is one of the larger and more multi facet pools with the MWR system on Oahu. You have seven 50 meter lanes and five 25 meter lanes for lap swimming. There is a deep end with a one and three meter diving board and a family swim area. There is also toddlers wading pool. Not sure if military or retirees can bring in guest, you'll need to check on that. I find the best time is after 2:30 PM
