What a lovely experience. The host was very friendly. She is an exceptional baker and cook. We came here with no expectations and were blown away by the beautiful home and the food. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you for sharing your space with us ❤️
My husband and I spent 3 nights in the Library Suite for our one year wedding anniversary. We were floored by the historical beauty and detail that was not only in our room, but all throughout the house. The coffee in the morning and the baked goods were one of our favorite parts, but the morning spread all 3 mornings were delicious and prepared with love. The room was cozy and very comfortable! We LOVED the stained glass that was scattered all throughout the house. All in all, this was such a pleasant experience and Michelle was a wonderful host. Thank you for everything!
We stayed here while celebrating our anniversary and it was wonderful! Lovely home and delicious breakfast -- with another anniversary-celebrating couple! Old houses need a lot of work, so folks should expect there may always be a "project" going on, but our room was cozy and comfortable. We'd definitely visit again!
This is an amazing place to stay! I stayed here for a work project in town. The rooms have what you need and the owners are very friendly. Bed was comfortable and clean. The house is beautiful and filled with incredible history. I encourage anyone staying in dubuque to consider this over a hotel.
Beautiful interior takes you to another Era.
The exterior is being improved so there is scaffolding set up around the house. I will love seeing it when it is completed. But the interior is well worth viewing. Located close to downtown. There are many wonderful eating establishments close. Breakfast is served in the morning. Fresh coffee. The best coffee cake and blueberry muffins as a starter. A small bowl of cantaloupe, waffles, French toast, and an egg dish are available. Special dietary restrictions are taken into consideration. Let the hostess know.
We stayed 2 nights and slept in a different room each night to broaden our experience. Even though it was an August summer, the interior was kept very comfortable. The many fireplaces are in working condition. Would love to come back in the winter and sit by the fireplace.
Price is very reasonable. Especially when you are served a feast for breakfast.
This destination comes highly recommended!
Positive: Th uniqueness of it. It is a huge old Victorian Mansion with so much detail to it. It is a destination unto itself. Dave and Michelle were great. Too much food for breakfast but it was delicious. All home baked breads!!
We stayed at Richard's House B & B for 1 night and loved it! The owners gave us a tour of the house (built in the late 1800s) and gave us our choice of rooms since we were the only people there at the time. The whole house is a historical masterpiece and the rooms are amazing, with many historical details. Breakfast the following morning was delicious, as well as the cakes and cookies provided to guests as snacks. The outside of the house is under repair at the moment, but don't let it discourage you from visiting. We will definitely be returning!
Wonderful historical home. Rooms are done very well. Loads of collections. They are working on the outside but inside is outstanding. Hosts Michelle and David do wonderful job. The breakfast was wonderful 😋

Been trying to get here for years, and was finally able to make-it when they're open. LOTS of options (from sandwiches, to meats, to prepared meals), all seemed very reasonably priced.
It's not a big place, but they pack a lot into the small space (
