Rhett House Inn - Hotel in Beaufort - 1009 Craven St, USA

We stayed at the Rhett House over the Christmas holidays. The Inn is on a quiet street, just off the main street through town and within easy walking distance to the downtown area. It’s over a block from the water, so there really aren’t any great views, but it is perfectly situated for touring the town. The Rhett House is spectacular, and it was a privilege to stay in such an historic home. Our room was on the first floor, with entrance off the veranda. It was spacious and comfortable, but there was a lot of stray light from outside at night, and the immediately adjacent bank of air conditioners constantly went on and off. Having a room without stairs was a benefit, but I am unsure if we would stay in that room again. Parking is off the street, behind the Inn, and the lot can be full, in which case you may find a spot on the street. Our interactions with the Inn were always very pleasant, and I loved that they provided a suggested itinerary of local places to visit for your stay. The front desk staff were always very fun to talk with, and we enjoyed our interactions. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order, and the famous pancakes earned their reputation. It’s worth a stay just to enjoy the breakfast. The cheese hour is nice, and I imagine it would be great to sit outside on the veranda to enjoy it. It was too cool for us to sit outside in the evening. We will stay here again on our next visit, as I know of nothing that comes close in service and ambiance.

Exceeded our expectations, what a treat! The room was lovely and extremely comfortable, the house is stunning and the location is perfect. The true gem of the Rhett House however is the staff. We felt instantly welcomed and were treated as treasured guests. The breakfast and evening dessert are fabulous, we didn’t want to leave.

My husband and I visited the Rhett House as a staycation weekend. Draped in quintessential southern charm, the house simply breathes relaxation. The service was impeccable and the room made me want to redesign my own primary to match. We stayed in room 11 (cottage) and were able to walk to downtown easily and enjoy all Beaufort has to offer. I can not recommend this enough as a relaxing getaway spot.

Stayed here for my son’s Marine Graduation. I always wanted to stay in an old southern mansion and the Rhett House Inn didn’t disappoint. We didn’t get a chance to enjoy the breakfast due to our early mornings. However, the staff made sure we had a “to go” box every morning. We did get to enjoy the evening snack and dessert. Loved sitting out on the balcony and taking nice walks to view the sites of Beaufort. Restaurants are all within walking distance. We stayed in Room 4 which was wonderful.

Let me start up with the positives since that list is short and sweet. The breakfast is great and the bed was comfortable and well appointed. ||Now on the cons: |We booked 2 x Queen rooms three weeks in advance directly through the Rhett House Inn website (no 3rd party apps) ||When we first arrived, we were informed that our room was given away to somebody with the same first name. The woman at the front desk could not figure out how to fix it, so she got the owner to come help. Unfortunately the owner was more concerned with fixing the TV in room 4 and making sure there was a pie in the oven, and couldn’t be bothered with our botched reservation. We were told we would need to wait until the hotel manager arrives before they can come with a solution. After nearly 2 hours, they ended up putting us in a long room and a room with 2 twin beds. ||We woke up this morning to find out there was no hot water and that maintenance was still on their way. We decided to head down to breakfast kill some time until we could all take a hot shower. That’s when we discovered that the door lock was broken and had not been locked the entire evening. ||When we got down to breakfast Was abrupt and rude to put it kindly and made the rest of us feel like we were perhaps inconveniencing her for some reason. The food again was delicious. ||The owner, who clearly has ZERO business acumen about about him, and was more interested in fixing the TV in room four and making sure that the pie was in the oven to make sure that their guests had any place to stay that evening. Would not recommend. Good luck to the staff.

Booked 2 nights at the Inn beginning of January 2024. Disaster from the start. On line booking not functioning so booked by phone. arrived and was told they had us booked into 3 different rooms as there were other guests with the same christian name. (apparently that confused them) Eventually we were moved to the correct room. Following morning - no hot water. It was like that all day. Spent more time trying to get credit card payment sorted.Was offered a free additional night as compensation but we had other commitments - they still charged us for the 2 nights with a $30 reduction - it was supposed to be $50 but that didn't materialise. I never did receive a written account and had to rely on my credit card statement to see what I was charged. Receptionist was very nice but hadn't a clue how to sort things.. The Inn itself was over rated and not worth the money. Very disappointed visitor from Ireland.

This is our second stay here and plan on returning in the Fall. That tells you a lot right there! The rooms are all unique and very comfortable. The staff is exceptional and the breakfasts are the best in America I tell them! There is so much to see and do in town and the surrounding area!

I stayed here two nights as part of a bicycle tour. The 1820’s house exudes with old southern charm with modern conveniences. My room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Cheese before dinner and desserts after dinner were a real treat. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely stay here again.
