Wonderful hidden park here in the middle of Fort Lauderdale. Plenty of shade and trees. They have a exercise area with equipment. A big playground. A beautiful lake with small docks to overlook the water. Lots of grills and picnic tables to use. There is also a canoe and kayak ramp to get in the river. Very nice park to spend some time and relax or exercise.

This is such an beautiful park and the people who work there are amazing! We help with a monthly waterway cleanup at the park and with all the rain lately everything ends up in the water.

The Reverend Samuel Delevoe Park is located on Sistrunk Boulevard in the historically African American section of northwest Ft Lauderdale. This 34 acre park is named in honor of Samuel Delevoe (1936-1977). Delevoe was a veteran of the Korean War and after he was one of Ft. Lauderdale's first black police officers. At the time he was sworn in there were only three other black law enforcement officers. After Delevoe left the police force he became a community leader and political activist. He was one of the founders of the Minority Builders Coalition of Broward and the Black Coalition of Broward. The reverend honorific was in reference to his position in the community as a street preacher. In April of 1977 at the age of 41, Mr. Delevoe was murdered at his wife's real estate office leaving a void in the community. The formerly maned Riverbend Park was renamed in his honor. In 1979 Governor Bob Graham declared November 11th would be declared Samuel Delevoe Day in Florida. Park amenities include an exercise path, basketball court, volley ball court, playground, outdoor fitness area, and an indoor computer lab. The park has a 17 acre lake with a fountain. Adjacent to the park is the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. Programs at the park include classes, club and association meetings, and After-School and Summer Recreation programs. I think Mr. Samuel Delevoe would be pleased to know that the park that bears his name is still bringing the community together.

This part is amazing it’s very spacious and has a lot of activities for you to do. There’s a community center. There is a playground. There is a basketball court. There is a exercise place. And there’s a lot of grass right around it with benches. The bathrooms are decent and the water is not nasty. You can play how you want to and it closes at good enough time.

I bring my kids to this park because it's close to where we reside however they keep closing the bathroom and now today they close the park from Monday to Friday for what look like summer camp isn't this a public park the kids aren't even at the play ground why does this only happen in poor neighborhood I thought public park was for all kids not just the ones rhat pay for summer school but for the ones also in the neighborhood

Beautiful lake, wildlife and park. Basketball courts were well painted and pristine. No garbage, no junk, spacious, grills and gazebos. Picnic benches too. Great rec center for the community on the premises too. I love it. Bring fam. Meditate or have a date. Even and outdoor circuit gym with various equipment. Love it!
