Restwood Motel - Motel in Traverse City - 1566 US-31, USA

This is a small “Mom & Pop” motel- my favorite- situated across the street from Grand Traverse Bay and only a block from the park. The owner/manager Rich was so accommodating and friendly. The room was cozy and clean and the bed was super comfy! Sadly, we were just passing through on our travels or we would have stayed longer. We will most definitely be back!

The rooms are clean and NOT smelly, no bugs. TV, fridge, and coffee maker, nothing else. I only gave service a 2 star rating because there are no "services." The manager was very nice. Don't go looking for the mini bar, hair dryer, room service, ice machine, pool, or continental breakfast.... just a basic room. But the room was cozy and warm. The sheets were soft, and the king-sized bed was firm. The area is quiet. This place is much nicer than some of the big chain hotels where you hear slamming doors all night. If you just need a place to sleep, take a shower, and get dressed, you get a clean, quiet room for a decent price and don't have to worry about taking home any undesirable critters." We would definitely stay here again.

We visited this motel on a weekend getaway to traverse. We did not have reservations and he was able to fit us in last minute. We appreciated his friendliness. But for the size and quality of the room the price was ridiculously expensive. And he did not honor the military discount that is usually accepted across the USA for people who have served. Once we got into the motel room everything appeared fine. There was a bed, heater, and TV. There was no fridge or microwave at all had we wanted to warm up food or refrigerate anything. The shower took 5 minutes to warm up. Once we were finally able to fall asleep we were woken up several times by bugs biting us. The next morning(today) we woke up with several inflamed bed bug bites. My husband has several all over his body. They did not get me as bad. But we are very disappointed in our stay here and would not recommend. We hope that this problem can be resolved so that future guests do not have to deal with bed bugs. Would add pictures of the red and inflamed bites that have caused us to go to the hospital but am unable to attach. DO NOT GO HERE.

As someone who always seeks out the best of the best, discovering this little motel was a pleasant surprise. From the moment I stepped into the room, I knew I was in for a special stay. The bed was new and incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. What truly impressed me was the cleanliness of the room, from the ceiling down to the floor. The bathroom was a welcome oasis after a long, hot day. I appreciated the all-American charm of the place, and it was clear that the owner takes great pride in catering to Michigan residents. His genuine care for his guests and the community shines through in every aspect of the motel. During my stay, I noticed the owner's dedication to maintaining a problem-free environment. The rooms were meticulously cleaned, and I felt right at home with no issues whatsoever. Overall, I can't recommend this high-end motel enough. Whether you're on a family vacation or simply passing through, rest wood is a top-notch choice for a comfortable and welcoming stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had a very pleasant stay at this motel! Rooms were CLEAN, they had good air conditioning, and bed was very comfortable! I highly recommend staying at this hotel! I have nothing negative to say and the owner, Rich, was very kind and helpful! We are definitely coming back here on our next road trip to Traverse City! Stay here! You won’t be disappointed!

Defined coming back! My boyfriend and I found this gem on a whim as we were road-tripping through Traverse City. Our room was CLEAN, bed was comfortable, bathroom was updated and very nice, air conditioning worked wonderfully, and the owners were very nice and friendly! A very pleasant experience and I highly recommend the Restwood Motel. We come up to Traverse City once or twice a year and so glad we found a place to call “home” while we visit!

It's a small room but perfect for 1 or 2 people. It is clean and everything is or looks new. The owner, Rich, was very helpful and check in was fast and easy. Reasonably priced and a 2 minute. Walk to the bay. Stores are within walking distance too. The pics after the hotel are of the bay and on the drive close by.

Very nice motel. We were in a bind and needed a place to stay and the owner was beyond flexible and allowed us to get a room very close to closing hours and was very friendly. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking for a cheaper place to stay close to the water!
