Residence Inn Newark Silicon Valley - Hotel in Newark - 35466 Dumbarton Ct, USA

One of my fellow travelers is wheelchair bound and wanted to use the pool and hot tub and the hotel did have chair lifts into both the pool and the hot tub but when I attempted to help him onto the lift chair it was inoperable and the seat were actually put on backwards which made the lifts impossible to use even if it did work. Reported it and maintenance came out to try to fix them, but was baffled by how they were even assembled that day and they did not get fixed at that time. I was able to get my friend out of the pool by the stairs though. (In case you were wondering)😉

Sometimes hotel residents are still in the swimming pool at 10:52PM (at night). Need to emphasize time and rule to hotel residence. Suite Room could use more room for long periods of stay. When you pull out the sofa-bed, there’s no more room to walk on. Breakfast menu does not have sausages and bacons like the Hilton and the Wyndham hotels do. Does not have fresh orange juice either. Breakfast menu rather boring after a long period of stay. Housekeeping services is fine, although, sometimes we have to request for the Housekeeping service. However, Elizabeth, the Housekeeping lady, I believe that’s her name, she is the one who wears mask, she’s a very nice housekeeping lady, very kind, very thorough, etc. She's to be recommended. Hotel location has lots of restaurants and by grocery store, however, lots of stores/restaurants had closed down probably since the pandemic.

We've stayed here two other times and we're quite satisfied with everything. When making the reservation this trip I noticed the rating had dropped. I now understand why We've stayed in pet rooms which are at the very back of the hotel. This time our room was the last next to the back door. The room is about half the size as our previous stays. The room was dingy (e.g. carpet seems dirty with tears & stains, holes in the furniture, tub stained and windows/sills not kept clean. I had to complain about the mildew smell in the room and the fix was to spray room deodorizer. The breakfast & coffee, we decided wasnt worth the walk. The worst, and most frustrating was the back door, closest to our room was broken. We were not able to get in so had to walk all the way around the building and back to our room. Walking the dog was a big inconvenience. I called to tell them and they were aware, saying the sensor goes in and out ( we weren't told this at check-in). I asked if it was going to be fixed and the receptionist said. ahhh. I don't know. The price was pretty good and close grocery store etc. Other than the annoying comment re the back door the staff was friendly. We aren't uncomfortable staying in a place that isn't kept up. Although, it is in a convenient location we will not stay here again.

The rooms are filthy. The paint is stained & dingy. The furniture is outdated & worn. The closet doors are inoperable. The key cards to operate the room doors only work intermittently. Cockroaches in the kitchen. I could go on, but you get the idea. The best thing about this place is CHECKING OUT.

I've been here over 20 times. Best hotel in the area. Location in near so many stores and restaurants. I've hosted several get togethers and have never had an issue with staff. They have been having a bug problem as of a few years ago but that has never bothered me much.

I made a reservation through Priceline for a two double bed room. I confirmed with Priceline that I had reserved two double beds as there were three adults in my party. Staff gave me a single double bed. I paid $40 extra for two double beds compared to a solo double bed. Staff was not helpful or apologetic. I called Priceline and moved hotels.

Room 507, reserved two night June 4 2024. Should be renamed to Cockroach Inn. This is a disgrace to Marriott brand and I will be reporting them to health department and corporate Marriott. BEWARE. Last time I ran across so many roaches was when I was in high school 30 years ago in my friend's parents apartment they was not used for a long time overseas. What the heck? Priceline rating is 8.4. I was fooled. Woke up 3 am to use rest room and ran into two small roaches on bathroom floor. I couldn't sleep after that. I did a check again after seeing reviews online on Yelp and saw the roach reviews. Then I found another two one on wall in bedroom and another medium size bigger on in desk. I could sleep and had to wale up at 7 am. But then ai crashed for few hours and woke at 7 to see 3 more one on bathroom sink and one two in bathroom. I called 3 am the front desk and they couldnt change the room and said will have manager call back but never did. I checkout early morning after deciding not to get another room and left especially that the front desk lady said there is not much they can do about the roaches (What!) because they have people staying at hotel for 3 years and they allow pets. Perhaps clean the damn rooms and get pest control.. Only hotel in my live this happened and I have been to cheaper hotels. What a joke! NIGHT FROM HELL

This happens on 7/31 evening: Check in and room key does not work. Called Front desk and picked up new key, still doesn’t work. Called back and I feel front desk wasn’t patient with my 2nd call, hanged my call before I finish. Rude! Bad rating for low quality service of front desk.
