I've been training at Renzo Gracie Seattle for about a year and a half and the atmosphere, coaches, and teammates have been exceptional. I started as a complete beginner and have had no complaints. Josh and Fred teach a holistic grappling curriculum that emphasizes takedowns (wrestling and judo) and the ground game. Fred and Josh focus on the details and have built a solid curriculum that offers depth and breadth, which gives ample time and repetitions to learn new skills. In particular, they focus on details that can often make or break your techniques - Footwork, hand fighting, grips, angles, and of course submissions. The atmosphere is competitive, yet friendly. Everyone is always willing to accommodate a specific need (injury, desire to focus on a specific skill), and I’ve always found the environment to be very welcoming.

I've trained at this gym for a couple years now and really like the way Fred and Josh structure classes and focus on a complete grappling system. Great coaching and great group of people to train with. Very welcoming atmosphere to new students as well.

I started out early in the Summer of 2023 with very little background in BJJ. The courses taught by Fred and Josh, the environment they've created, as well as the good nature of the other people training, absolutely deserve a five star review. The instructors are always open to question or to help, and genuinely care about your health and progression. I would absolutely recommend this place to both beginners and more experienced folks.

This is the most welcoming gym someone could ask for. I started as a complete beginner where the coaches Josh and Fred were so knowledgeable, patient, and just amazing teachers overall. They've created a really welcoming atmosphere and their passion for bjj is contagious. I love their teaching style and l always look forward to going to class. The coaches take everyones growth and well-being seriously and I would highly recommend for all levels.

Being new to martial arts, the thought of joining a BJJ class initially intimidated me. Thankfully, I stumbled upon Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Seattle, and it's been a game-changer. After my first class, I eagerly signed up, and I can't recommend it enough. Coaches Fred and Josh are exceptional, motivating you to push your limits, improve your skills, and they genuinely appreciate your efforts. The supportive advanced students make the learning experience enjoyable. I look forward to each class, it not only provides a fantastic full-body workout but also serves as a refreshing escape from my work life, helping me cultivate a calmer mind.

Been at Renzo Gracie Seattle for coming up on two years! Josh and Fred are great coaches for all levels. Great for entry level newbies all the way to competitive upper belts. I’ve trained at several gyms in Seattle and best gym by far!

Started training here this year as a complete newbie with no prior bjj or martial arts experience and I couldn't be happier with my choice to join this gym! The coaches, Fred and Josh, are truly amazing - they are extremely knowledgable, attentive, and have great attention to detail in all instructions they provide along with thorough technique breakdowns. They really do push each and every person to be the best they can be. The gym itself has a great atmosphere and everyone is so kind, welcoming, and uplifting. Really great group of people! I've learnt so so much in my time here and am seriously always looking forward to class. I would highly recommend this gym for all levels and backgrounds.

Have been a member for a few years now. I was always curious about BJJ growing up and I regret not getting into it sooner. This gym is welcoming to all and has a great community. Coach Fred and Josh bring a great mix of how to get to the ground, and what to do once your there ;)
