I stayed at this hotel years ago and it was one of my favorite places in Asheville. Not anymore. The place is very shabby. The indoor pool was ice cold despite being promised that it was heated and in operation, no hot tub, which has not been working for over a month as it turns out, even though we called ahead of time and were told it was working. There was no dresser in my room for clothes so we had to put clothes on the floor! When I told the front desk they told me the manager would get back to me. Never did. Still no explanation for why no dresser, so we left clothes on the floor. There was a very long water stain on the rug in the hall which also smelled of mold. Told the front desk and they did spray it with Lysol, but left the stain. The staff were very nice, but clearly had no leadership. Half of the stuff on the restaurant menu was not available either. Whoever is in charge here has checked out. All of the other guests felt the same way especially because it is winter and most everyone wanted the heated pool and hot tub which is why I booked here in first place. I know the Renaissance brand and this place is on par with a Hampton Inn. I also think it is interesting that the manager does not comment at all about the negative reviews online. I'm contacting corporate.

The rooms are very nice looking, efficient, clean, and equipped with everything I needed. Fun, lively bar area, and a tasty omelette for breakfast! I went down two different times to the front desk, and I waited for a little while for someone to arrive. Don't stay in a room facing one of the clubs on the weekend if you are an early riser/light sleeper, or you might find yourself having a hard time sleeping due to being able to hear music from outside through the sealed windows. All in all, a decent hotel to stay in with a comfy bed.

Stayed for 2nights, the Check in front desk person of Asian decent, was very robotic, no smile, not much of an experience there. I asked for late check out, he went straight by the book saying "you're a silver Marriott member and we can only do till this time...." Very much by the rules. I have made few requests online prior to my arrival, they were not met, until i had to call and speak about it again. The front desk doesn't seam to be aware of the requests made by the guest when the book on the Marriott app. I then spoke with COURTNEY ( she was amazing and met my late check out request yet again for later time, even knowing we didn't use the full time, it was awesome that she did ). Lobby is very nice, but the rooms are old, dated and need renovations.

Good stay overall. Hotel was very clean. Check in was quick and efficient. As rewards members, received breakfast vouchers. Above average for a hotel breakfast, service was excellent.|Downsides were a lot of hallway noise (in fairness, the hotel was fully booked), and only saw 2 of the 4 elevators working during our nights there. But only had to wait twice because the elevator was full when it arrived. Parking is easy to navigate. Front desk staff were helpful. Will be back.

Very nice hotel. Checking in was fast and simple. Room was average size and nothing special, however it was very clean and everything was in excellent condition. We upgraded to a room with a view which was worth the additional amount. This hotel is in the perfect location and walkable to all downtown restaurants, shops and bars. We did not need our car until we were leaving. One note one that…keep your key as it is needed to exit the parking lot. We had a great experience and would definitely stay here again when in Asheville.

This is a hotel in a great location that, upon first arrival seems high end. The longer you stay, the more clear it is shown that is just gloss over a dated hotel. It is charging too much of a premium for its location. The breakfast is basically a buffet you get at Holiday Inn, but a fresh omelet service. Paying $20 for this is a scam. If it prices where at $150 instead of $250+ this would be a great place.

Unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience given numerous issues. But what was even more unpleasant was a lack of response from an employee that asked me to send her pictures of my stay. Plus zero response from the general manager when I followed up with him.||I’ve stayed at the Renaissance in Raleigh NC and Pittsburgh PA several times and it was lovely. I’ve very familiar with the brand. This recent Asheville experience was so bad that I’m really reluctant to stay at another Renaissance in the future.||Issues encountered:|- I reserved a city view room and we were put into a highway facing “mountain” view room. So we were moved to a correct room.||- Both rooms, the TV didn’t work. We were told by the front desk person that a maintenance person would have to come and fix. You’d then need to perform the multi step routine he did every time you wanted to turn on the TV…||- The bathroom shower handle literally fell off in my hand when turned on||- The refrigerator cabinet door was literally hanging on by a bottom hinge||- The closet doors had actual chunks knocked out of the door||- The heat/ac unit rattled SO bad that after investigating, it was clear I had to take the top of the faux surround off of it to stop it||- Toilet paper holder would simple fall in a downward position at the first use.||- No hairdryer. I was provided a new one after asking the front desk manager Thursday night||- Only one elevator worked for the duration of our stay.||- I will note, the bar staff was really a nice gentleman. Same man every night we were there. Professional and top notch vs the front desk staff.||Again, truly surprised and very a disappointing experience given what we paid.

We unfortunately could not get food at the hotel from 10am to 5pm. Normally this would not be an issue but the weather outside was very bad, and we could not practically walk to get food. I was told by someone at the front desk that we are downtown, and they suggested I could walk to get food...walk to get food in the pouring rain and weather? It was a bad attempt at a way to placate the situation. I suggest the hotel has food during normal lunch hours. With said rain, there was an issue with the gym. It was closed and ultimately never opened before we left. I couldn't eat, and I couldn't workout. I asked the front desk if they could get a pass to the YMCA across the street since the gym was closed. I was assured that I would get a call in my room to let me know. 1.5 hours passed and I got no call. I called about it and another person answered and they said they heard nothing new. I went downstairs to talk to the original person about the pass at the YMCA, and was given what felt like an excuse that they left a message and no one called back. I had already called the Y and found out I could get a 3 day free trial or buy a day pass. I felt like the person at the front desk didn't put much effort into trying to help with this. Normally I wouldn't be too annoyed, but considering the lack of food, and the lack of a gym at the hotel, I felt this was the least they could do, and they were unable to deliver. During all of this, I went downstairs to extend our rooms as due to the weather, we had to extend an extra day. My rest was disturbed with someone knocking on my door with the do not disturb sign. I thought by going down and having the room extended, I would not get disturbed while resting. I suggest that if a DND sign is on the door, that housekeeping should call down to the front desk to check before disturbing rest. Overall, this hotel could do much better.
