The old covered bridge is one of my favorite photography sites. I go there several times a year and different times of day hoping to get a good shot. It’s very beautiful here. Picnic tables are close to the bridge and there are a few spots to park. On one of my trips I got to see a TV commercial being filmed there. On another trip, a wedding took place. It can get quite crowded on holidays and weekends with folks partying, picnicking, and fishing. The bridge is in good shape and still carries traffic.
This is why I ride. To experience historical sites and meeting interesting people.
Nice and quiet. A very peaceful and relaxing spot to picnic. No bathrooms that I saw, and there's nothing really around for miles, so, be prepared.
Found by taking the back roads from Thomaston to Macon. Nice little diversion and a covered bridge still in operation.
Great place to visit. Very peaceful and quiet. For those that aren't aware, this is the bridge from the Movie Lawless. Great movie. They have picnic tables where you can take a date and capture some great pictures of nature along with the bridge.
When touring rural Georgia, these are the places you want to find. Wood covered bridges are not a common thing anymore, so it's a treat when you come across one. The Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge happened to be the oldest and the longest one in Georgia. Great photo opportunities and a nice creek area to sit and take in the sounds and smells of nature.
Nice old fashioned place to take special occasion pictures. This is a historical landmark and is still being used, so be mindful of oncoming vehicles. There were concrete picnic tables along the bridge for people to sit. Go during the week as there are less traffic and people. We went on a a Tuesday and had the place to ourselves except for the occasional vehicles that used the bridge to cross the river. Also be mindful that cameras are pointed at the bridge at both ends for surveillance.
Oldest covered bridge in GA. It has survived water reaching about 7 feet inside. Definately a piece of history worth visiting. The bridge is operational and more than just visitors use it. There are picnic tables to use.

We have camped here, played Frisbee golf, and enjoyed beautiful scenery of the lake. The bathrooms could use an upgrade but not terrible. This is a reservoir so they do not allow gas boat motors which make it a much cleaner environment and quiet. I h
We detoured to have lunch at this hidden gem, and it was worth it. The food was delicious! The service was fast and friendly, and the comfortable, farmhouse-style appeal was inviting. Highly recommend The Angry Blackbird sandwich and fried green toma
