Red Lion Hotel Monterey - Hotel in Monterey - 1425 Munras Ave, USA

Positive: The whole aesthetic of the hotel, location etc. was great. We had a decent view as on a clear day we could see the ocean. All was relatively peaceful and everything was located very close, literally a 5-10 minute drive to get everywhere we wanted to be. Negative: Only things we didn?t like were, the previous people left a bag of popcorn in the microwave making the room smell a bit funny when we got there, and the handle for the shower fell off when used other than that there was just basic wear and tare.

The hotel is set-up nicely and the front desk was very friendly! Our only complaint, which is why we only gave 4 stars, was the floor made our feet black when walking on it after we showered. Everything else was VERY clean though. It was a perfect spot while visiting Carmel Beach. One tip is eat early, everything surrounding closes at 6, except pizza places.

Positive: Location and proximity to hwy 1. Quiet. Negative: Tv cable wasn?t working. Staff attended to this issue. Then my husband took at shower and was in about three inches of water. He attempted to clear the drain but that didn?t work. front desk didnt answer. Went to discuss. Option was to move rooms.

Chambre pas très propre. Prises électriques défectueuses et certaines complètement ouvertes. Nous avons dû jouer les électriciens pour faire fonctionner la tv. Bruyant très bruyant, on a entendu le couple dans la chambre voisine prendre leur douche et se faire des câlins.... Hotel situé à environ 3 km de l'aquarium (30 min à pied). Hotel recommandé pour un passage rapide (1 nuit max).

Hotel was ok, although missing towels, and mini refrigerator did not work. The staff lacks customers service, they sounded mad that I reported I had a missing towel on my room. and the gentleman at the desk check out, lacks basic customer service skills, hotel managers should give these employees more customer service training, don't recommend at this time and don't plan to return to this property

The stay was okay. Check in went smooth and was super easy. We were disappointed that the hot tub didn’t work. The water was hot but the jets didn’t work and the gate to the pool that was next to the hot top was locked so we had to drip water all over the place to go from the pool to the hot tub. The room was nice. It was clean but the beds were hard. Now we could just be use to super soft mattress I am not sure but it was hard to sleep and felt like we were laying on a hard ground.

I stayed at the Red Lion Hotel in Monterey in June 2024 for a family trip, and it was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the shocking sight of a guest's car being repossessed right outside the entrance. Our room was filthy, with footprints on the ceiling, chipped paint on all the walls, and a bathroom that resembled a dungeon. To make matters worse, there were animals on the window sill and hanging on the curtains, creating a sense of chaos and neglect. The entire place reeked of cigarettes, and the walls were so thin that we could hear every conversation and noise from the adjacent rooms, making it impossible to relax or feel secure in this warzone...||The hotel itself looked outdated and unappealing, far from what we expected for a family-friendly stay. The AC and heating barely worked, adding to our discomfort. Outside, the gas station was a gathering spot for homeless individuals, who were seen collaborating on their cardboard signs while their dog defecated on the sidewalk. This sketchy environment made us feel extremely unsafe, especially with young children in tow. The weak locks on the connecting doors between rooms added to our fear, making it clear that this place was NOT safe for families but more suited for drug dealers.||The horror didn't stop there. The carpet was stained with mysterious substances, and the bed linens had suspicious stains that made it clear they hadn't been cleaned properly. We even found used tissues and a dirty sock under the bed. The bathroom was a nightmare, with mold growing in the corners of the shower and a toilet that barely flushed. The sink was clogged, and there were dead insects scattered on the floor.||We left this dangerous place within 30 minutes of checking in, yet we were charged for the entire weekend. Even the workers, who were just okay, couldn't redeem this terrible experience. I immediately booked another hotel online and fled as quickly as I could. This stay was a nightmare, and I demand a full refund for the distress and inconvenience caused. I strongly advise against staying at the Red Lion Hotel in Monterey. It was an unsafe, filthy, and unpleasant experience from start to finish.

we loved everything about this hotel. staff is amazing . pool and spa great. breakfast great. beds comfy. parking easy. we would stay again . they really think of all the details to make your stay relaxing and easy.
