After five nights in Santa Fe, we just needed one night in Albuquerque to have dinner with friends who lived there. If I knew this place was delightful as it was, we would have stayed longer. It's like staying in a country resort on the outskirts of the city. There are multiple animals, including a horse who likes eating peppermint candy right out of your hand. Darlene, Phil, and Darlene's father were wonderful hosts. Even the other guests were great. And to top it off, the breakfast was delicious.

Darlene and Phil were so helpful getting me settled. The morning breakfast was outstanding. Darlene had made individual egg quiche. Served with three types of salsa, fresh blueberries and cantaloupe, homemade banana bread with butter, and ham. There were five customers that morning and there was no shortage of conversation. Phil was on hand for any needs or want, and kept the cups filled with hot tea or coffee. I have already booked my stay in October. 😊

Our room was very cute and clean. The owners and staff were very nice and accommodating and the best cookies to eat in the evening when you need a bedtime snack. We love the peaceful country feel with the horse and the goat. We will be returning back soon because it is a great getaway to enjoy.

We had such a lovely stay at the Red Horse! You can tell lots of effort has gone into the whole place. It's got so much history and we loved chatting with the owners, Darlene and Phil. Breakfast around the table with other guests was great! Carl gave us a tour of the place, including his pottery studio - Lots of great stories again. Overall, if you'd like a cozy, super friendly stay, this is the place.

I received an invitation to a wedding in the South Valley. Being a former resident of the valley, I was excited and checked it out online. It all looked beautiful. We even thought about spending our anniversary there. We arrived, and the front of the entry onto the property was nothing like the photo online. The above ground pool was thrown over, and as you got to the doorway, there were old car batteries and just junk thrown out in the open. The staff was not welcoming to guests. The only way I knew who the employees were was to look for the rude people on property. A woman told myself and my daughter to leave the building immediately after we came out of the restroom. I was asked to bring things for the wedding and use of refrigerators, and the kitchen was allowed for the event. The owner essentially yelled about the kids being in existence and that I brought food for the event. I later heard the owner in the kitchen, screaming over the phone to someone about us having brought things. I was at the entrance of the house, mind you so very uncomfortable for guests and unprofessional. Red horse employees were paid to set up and tear down the event space, none of which they did the wedding party did it all. My husband was a guest was made to retrieve ladders and tables. And as if that's not enough, they wanted him to fix a pole on their property, My husband had to that point.Been very accommodating to people who had been to this point very rude to all of us so he refused and asked the woman. Why do I have to fix this? The woman then was upset and annoyed with him. And said never mind. I'll have my father fix it. Later. We're asked to do the job red horse signs up for the staff just seemed to have a reason to complain and literally break down in tears in front of guests for no obvious reasons to me and i was there for rehearsal and the staff was rude even then. They made my kids uncomfortable and threatened the bride and groom in the middle of their reception, that they were going to shut down her party. So no, I will never recommend this place. It's sad to say that I was excited to be back in the South Valley. They made it the worst family event. Our family has ever had good luck to anyone who books here. Maybe maybe if you're just gonna put up with them for one night, you'll be fine. Any longer than that, the staff can not handle it.

Stayed for two nights in the Heritage Suite and felt very at home and secure. The fridge had water and a variety of other drinks, along with ice. The shower was refreshing, and the bed was amazingly comfortable and supportive at the same time. Everything was CLEAN! Breakfast was generous, and the coffee was strong for those of us who appreciate it that way. Darlene gave me a great suggestion when I learned that Acoma Sky City was closed on Mondays. She recommended the Jemez Pueblo “'Walatowa” (a Towa word meaning “this is the place”). And oh my, it was the perfect place to hike amidst the red rocks and incredible beauty of New Mexico. There is a slot canyon there that is not to be missed. It is like walking into a different world. I can't say enough about it. If you have the time, make the drive and experience it for yourself. I would definitely return to Red Horse Inn when visiting again.

We've never experienced hospitality with such a delightful and delicious breakfast as this in our traveling experiences! Darlene and Phil really make guests a part of the family while in their home and at their breakfast table! Historical photos are displayed throughout the two story home of 91 yr old Carl Lodene, original owner of the home, and his wife and daughters, one of which is Darlene. She and Phil are the gracious hosts of this fabulous ranch. Darlene's New Mexico country style decorating upstairs and downstairs will blow your mind. But her cooking is really SECOND TO NONE! Breakfast ingredients are grown on the farm including her wonderful apple butter and homemade biscuits. We chose the LUXURY CAMPER for our "room" and I must tell you we were surprised at this peaceful, clean, warm and welcoming place to lay our heads after a very long day of traveling from Phoenix. It was 32 degrees that night and the camper was very comfortable. I highly recommend that you don't miss their hospitality if you are traveling through Albuquerque. Just having a moment of learning about their history and lives is really unforgettable! Buy the book about their "CALL THE VET" that is in the bookstore and really learn more about this unique spot you have landed upon like we did! Marc and Vicki
