I have gone to Ravenwood 4 times and each time I love it even more. They are super accommodating and always respond to our requests with no issue. I truly appreciate how responsive and kind the staff are whenever we talk with them. It feels like I’m coming back home each time. All the rooms are different, which is a great excuse to come back and experience a different room! They have so many games to choose from to play and there’s plenty of space to play the games. Keep an eye out for their special events, they are so much fun and just add an extra element to an amazing experience. All of it is amazing, but honestly I would come back just for the butter beer alone. They even make their own butterscotch!! Truly unique and can’t find a better match anywhere else. Important notes - Castle doesn’t have any elevators so be prepared for stairs. Rooms in the castle don’t have any sort of fridge/microwave but the cabins and village do. (It says on the website which rooms have what amenities) WiFi and cell service is limited to none. I could get calls in some areas, but it’s not guaranteed. I’ll definitely be back soon!
We’ve been here three times and sadly this may be the last. I discovered this place in 2018 and thought it was a magical getaway. Sadly to say 2024 the magic was gone. The staff made us feel completely unwelcome by making us feel like an inconvenience because we were the few people onsite that they unfortunately had to accommodate to. I will say tho, that the only friendly face was the older woman that served breakfast in the morning, she was very sweet and accommodating.
Unique and clean place to stay. Would recommend for a quick getaway. The breakfast was good and the beer and cheddar soup is great. There is a nice hiking trail around the property that was about a mile.
Just returned home from a wedding weekend at Ravenwood. It was truly spectacular. Beautiful location, terrific accommodations, and tasty food. They deserved all 5 stars. Except for the staff, they should have 10! They were so helpful and made this stay amazing. Thank you to the unsung heros of the weekend. I will come back just to see you again. PS whatever you are paying them it's not enough. You have some world class staff working there.
We got married here (I haven’t seen many reviews for this) and it went really well! The castle is beautiful, particularly in summer, and the whole family had fun. There’s bound to be some miscommunication from plans to castle staff, but they were super helpful. We asked for an extension cord because we forgot one and they gave one to us within a few minutes! They worked well with our caterer and were super sweet when we had way too many leftovers. Plus, everyone occupied themselves with the scavenger hunts and hiking nearby. Honestly it was super fun and I really appreciate them. And there’s cats, which makes everything better. We’ll be back to finish the scavenger hunts!
We loved Ravenwood Castle but it may not be for everyone. If you are someone hooked on technology you may be a little disappointed. The location is isolated so Wi-Fi and cellphone service leaves a lot to be desired. We had access to the internet through Ravenwood but we had no cellphone service (which was ok with us). If you are looking to go somewhere to unwind from the "outside world" then this is the perfect place. Although we brought our own board game, Ravenwood Castle offers a plethora of board games. We even tried one of the games they had on hand. Everything is very cozy and intimate. Good place to go with family, friends, or a significant other. The pub and restaurant area are only open to guests. The restaurant has a communal eating style. The pub a more intimate style with lots of board games to choose from while waiting for a meal or while dining. The room felt a little "tired" and well used but it added to the castle charm. There were newer dining and sitting chairs in the room. It was very relaxing. We appreciated the little touches in Cinderella's Cottage. The bed was mediocre but the pillows were great and the linen clean. In fact, the entire room was clean. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Overall, a great stay. We plan on returning to this sweet retreat when the weather is warmer.
My wife and I attended a murder mystery weekend and it was surprisingly a lot of fun. We didn’t stay in the castle itself but in one of their cabins. The cabin was great and clean. The only complaint is the bathroom. It was small and the shower was tiny. Being only 6’ tall I struggled to get the shampoo out of my hair and I could easily touch the ceiling of the shower with my head. Not personally seeing the bedrooms in castle but the castle itself was clean and well kept.
My husband and I went to Ravenwood Castle to celebrate our 25 years of being geeks together! We got the Romance package and came in to a beautifully decorated room. Completely unplugging took a little getting used to, but being able to get wireless at the Castle worked out great. The food we had at the pub was mediocre, but the ambiance more than made up for it! Make sure not to miss out on visiting the library. The only recommendation I would give the owners: Invest in more comfortable chairs in the rooms and in the pub. The ones in the great hall are wonderful, but the others are a little tough on the behind! :) I would also express a concern that others on here seem to echo: having to "ring for service" gives the vibe of intruding. The person who gave us our tour and served us both evenings made us feel as if we were an intrusion, though I don't think it was intentional. Maybe instead of having them upstairs after 5, have them stay in the pub area?
