Rankin Museum of American Heritage - Museum in Ellerbe - 131 Church St, USA

A diamond in the rough. Undervalued. So much to see, the pieces they do have are very special but displays might not emphasize that enough. Take time to view everything, read about it, THINK about it. Expand your mind - observe the history of our culture and think about how life was versus how it is now.

This private museum was unexpectedly delightful! It’s a terrific and eclectic collection of the history of Richmond County, but also contains international pieces, fossils, and has an entire wing devoted to Native Americans and other indigenous peoples. There’s also a section devoted to former Ellerbe resident Andre the Giant with some great memorabilia from his career. The exhibits are static and there’s not much in the way of multimedia or interactive elements, but the collection is well-kept and thoroughly documented. The Rankin is worth a visit!

We were there for the Andre the Giant celebration. The volunteers and staff there are very welcoming. The exhibits were very nice and had a wide range of facts.

Amazing museum! Very deceiving! Looks small from the outside but large and amazing on the inside! A lot of natural history items.. time period artifacts.. and don't forget to see the Andre The Giant exhibit!!!

I have been coming here since I was a lil kid and now k get to take my kids if your in rockingham or hamlet Hoffman or even Cordova come up to ellerbe and go to Rankin museum learn about all the history or your area and some of the scientific facts and fundamentals of your local home town

Small museum, but good place for the price...Triple A members save money too which was a pleasant surprise
