Ramada by Wyndham West Atlantic City - Featured Reviews (1127)
I'm surprised there are so many poor reviews here. Every time we stay here, we don't have an issue. I have yet to get a room on the exterior corridor (pet friendly side) that is moldy, dirty, outdated or smelling like smoke. They are still currently updating rooms to hardwood floors but even the ones with carpet still are clean. I've never seen a bug or roach. The bathrooms are clean and the shower heads have water pressure, the water is hot for a long time. Front desk staff is always friendly. Returns the deposit to me if need be and not my husband if he's at work.. unlike some other places who make a hassle out of it and won't return the deposit to me if the room is paid for with my husband's card. Regarding "sketchy" people walking around according to other reviews (so judgmental).. there are some of the same people here all the time. We stay periodically and have talked to some of them, they are harmless. I can't believe people are so afraid of other people who are a little down on luck , and maybe slightly mentally unwell, who actually live in this hotel. No one has ever asked us for money or bothered us, and we have kids so we wouldn't continue visiting it we felt it was unsafe. The hotel staff is also aware and keeps tabs on what they're doing for the comfort of other guests. (We've been asked if we were ever bothered .. which is no) Really not as big of a deal as some of the other reviews make it seem. The location is great. There's a nice area over by the water near the exterior corridor for fishing or just walking around. It's not directly in Atlantic City so away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to experience it. Overall a nice hotel, especially for the price.
Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The furniture seemed worn and outdated. The carpets were stained, the bathroom fixtures were rusty. The hotel did not look anything like the pictures advertised online. The rooms and common areas appeared far more polished and inviting in the photos, which did not reflect the reality of the poor conditions I encountered. The bedding did not appear fresh, and the overall ambiance of the room was uninviting. Overall, my stay at this Hotel was far from pleasant. Cleanliness and proper maintenance are essential for a comfortable and enjoyable hotel experience, and unfortunately, this hotel failed to meet even the most basic standards. I would not recommend staying here until significant improvements are made.
The rooms in the "motel" part are not as nice as the ones in the "hotel" part. Dogs are allowed in the motel , which is nice if you bring your dog but if you leave your dog at home you really want to stay in the five-story building part. Staff was amazing! Very accommodating and very nice.
Hotel was very run down. They had homeless and sketchy people throughout the whole property sitting outside hotel rooms they are not in. The room had paint chipping and bugs. Whole hallway smelt like smoke, dings and the shower was in desperate need of an update. Saving grace was the lovely front desk wome (I forget her name) who offered to upgrade our room then eventually cancel our reservation when we deemed the second building we were sent too was not worth it the unsafe feeling we had.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but were highly disappointed with our room. I'll start with the positive: The location is great!!!!! . Close to everything and not too far from Atlantic City, boardwalk and beaches. A great peaceful view of ocean. The pool was great. Nice lounge area around it and good sized pool. Hours of the pool are nice. Pool could use a good fresh paint bur clean and refreshing. Breakfast was good every morning....great waffles, eggs and sausage on the weekends. Nice seating area outside the breakfast room/outdoors. Lobby was nice and clean with tons of food/snacks and misc. items at great prices. Front desk and kitchen staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed. However, the negatives: We had a room in the older building. The room had a funky/musty smell and the walls, doors and chairs were run down, torn and old. Bedding was paper thin and old/drab. We had a roll out bed for one of our guests and it took up most of the room and killed her back!! One of the lights in hallway flickered often. The bathroom was tiny with a tiny sink and the tub filled up with water as you were showering. While maintenance came very quickly to fix it, it still filled up again the next day. The towels were tiny, rough and paper thin. The room was clean but beat up and worn out/drab. There were marks all over walls, dents in door and the key cards always gave us trouble. You can see some new furniture and paintings and attempts to make it nice but still MUCH more renovations and deep cleanings of the room need to be done. Maids rarely came and only made beds one time in the 4 days we were there and you have to ask for new towels or they won't replace. Grateful I brought some of my own. I would recommend the hotel for the price, location, free breakfast, lobby, pool and ocean view but they NEED to fix up the building with the outside rooms. They are in very rough shape. I heard the inside rooms were much better. The mosquitos were terrible so a good spraying outside is needed for sure. Mixed review. Did not hate it but did not love it either.
Just a heads up…. don’t go off the pictures online, they are so deceptive and basically looks like a whole different hotel based on interior pictures. We walked into our room and instantly walked out due to the smell of smoke and overall musty, the room was not clean at all. The service was nice as we asked to cancel and have a refund and they were happy to do so.
Hotel is dated, but the nicest Ramada I’ve seen. It’s in a decent spot to be a short drive from the city and beach. Everything was decently clean in the room, and the shower had great water pressure. There were the loudest, rudest idiots above us our first night but the rest of the time was fine. Unsure of the price as I stayed for work, but I’m sure it’s on the cheaper side so it should be a good value. The pool looked nice but I didn’t get the chance to use it or the breakfast. I wouldn’t hang around outside though, at least in the evening. There were so many mosquitoes due to the rain/water around the area.
Positive: the room was spacious, the staff was very friendly, breakfast was a nice touch every morning. the rooms felt clean. had a microwave and mini fridge. the pool was nice, too Negative: the bathtub felt cracked at the bottom and had some sort of tape to cover that up, the doors would slam shut very loud if you didn?t close them gently yourself. weekend breakfast added eggs and sausage, but bacon would be a great addition to that
