Ralph's Barbecue - Barbecue restaurant in Weldon - 1400 Julian R Allsbrook Hwy, USA

Food was old fashion country food. The atmosphere was so welcoming, service was good, the stew looks really good but I think it was too sugary, the same for the potato salad and the greens. The crispy chicken is delicious and the barbecue was pretty good but think the mash potatoes were really good. We had a good family meal and my mom wanted to come here. Was a decent meal in a good environment and kind people.

2 months ago........ Buyer beware. This was my first time visiting Ralph's Barbecue . I work way too hard to waste my money on bad food if I can help it. So I'm doing this review so that you won't have to go through this. My suggestion is that you order from the menu. I say that because I noticed what I believe were some of the locals coming in and they all ask for a menu and they seem pretty happy eating . But some of the people around me from the buffet had something to say about it . The buffet was , ,,I don't have a word for it, just wasn't a good day for a buffet. I tried a little bit of everything just in small amounts to taste. The white beans were scorched and the black eyed peas were not good. The cabbage had a hint of white vinegar in the broth not used to that taste I'm sure it's okay with other people this is just not my liking. The hush puppies tasted like somebody had dropped the box of salt in it by mistake couldn't eat one just took a bite off of it and that was that. The rolls were good the green beans were okay the banana pudding was okay the salad was okay the fried chicken was crunchy in a different way never had chicken fried like that before not bad. The potato salad was a mashed potato salad I guess that's okay for some but not really seasoned up real good the mashed potatoes had an odd taste to him the okra was fried but it was soft and Squishy. The baked chicken was just baked chicken sitting in a gravy with cornbread dressing next to it definitely straight out of a box was just weird taste. My waiter was excellent he was very attentive he kept asking me was everything good and I said no and just laughed it off but he was worth the trip I appreciate his attentiveness he was worth the tip thanks.

We had to have some wind therapy and good food so we got on our motorcycles and hit the road. Ralph's was the destination. Great food, customer, service and price. Very friendly atmosphere.

If I could give a zero, I would. After spending so much time planning my trip to Ralph's, it was more than disappointing. I read prior reviews but remembered so many positive experiences over the past 30 years, I wanted to believe they weren't true. My anger came in when I was at the front by 7:36pm. The hours were changed to 8:00pm. It's not a problem, but I knocked on both locked doors for takeout and dining in. A customer came to the counter to pay for her food because there were no less than 10 people still seated in the dine in tables. I didn't even want to eat in, just a to go order. Well, someone came to take the customer's payment, never acknowledging I was outside. I even knocked again. The lady behind the counter ignored again and went back to the kitchen as she swallowed something from her cup. A simple gesture would have sufficed. I have never posted a negative review before, but that type of behavior should not be acceptable for an establishment that has been open since 1941.

Well I have to tread carefully as I am not trying to be harsh at all. But, if your establishment is staked on your BBQ, in my opinion, it should be stellar. It was not bad. It was mediocre. No hint of smoke. Maybe my definition is different. The buffet was well organized and clean. We I ate the dining room was also clean. My service was fantastic.

Food was hot and delicious. When we got there hardly anyone was there but about 15 minutes into our meal the place got packed, The fried chicken was so delicious and the BBQ and slaw was great. They also had banana pudding that was so good. I would recommend it to anyone. It's a deal for a Sunday buffet so stop by and try it for yourselves!

Great find on our way north from Florida. The chopped pork and pulled pork sandwiches were delicious. Meat was soooo tender, just melted in your mouth. Will definitely stop again next time we're going that way!

Everything we had was flavorful and cooked well. We love visiting local BBQ joints across eastern North Carolina and Ralph's did not disappoint! We ordered the buffet. Fried chicken was crispy and delicious.
