We stopped into this little bookstore during a cruise stop in Juneau. The store, with its adorably creaky wood floors and aesthetically arranged books, has a wide variety of used books, many focused on Alaska. The bookstore clerk engaged in friendly conversation and explained they were all out of *Into the Wild* due to a shipment that was still due or something. We found some great children's books for our nieces and nephews. I appreciated the bookstore clerk's authentic personality and honest responses to my questions about the town and how it must fluctuate radically between cruise arrivals and departures. She said there's a lively arts scene in Juneau that comes alive, and that there's so many events (from music to theater to book readings, etc.) that one can't attend them all. I wish I could get to know that Juneau! Definitely stop into this bookstore. It's a place where things feel real.
This is far and beyond one of my favorite bookstores. It’s got a lovely selection of used and new books. It’s small, but never cramped feeling. I came here ten years and fell in love with it. Returned two days ago to find it’s only improved! -Canine welcoming committee (a MAJOR plus in my mind) -Now carries Vinyl Albums -Excellent prices
Strong recommended reading tables, good selection of both new and pre-owned books, wonderfully welcoming staff. And as a unexpectedly delightful bonus, a lovely, chill, shaggy dog who didn't mind pets from this slightly homesick guy 4 timezones away from his own dog
Definitely worth a stop while while in downtown Juneau. Great diverse selection of used books, journals, and postcards. The owner and her dog are super sweet, too.
Best book shop that I’ve have ever been. The woman in charge, named Sarah, was helpful and their prices are very good. Highly recommend!
Rainy Retreat Books was by far my favorite business I visited while in Juneau. The two people I talked with in the store were very knowledgeable and helpful with navigating their collection of books (which were very reasonably priced). They even gave me some useful advice on how to make the most of my cruise stopover in the town, including some nice tips about Mendenhall Glacier. I left with multiple books, good advice, and a smile on my face. Also, their dog is very sweet and soft, make sure to give her lots of love. Can’t recommend Rainy Retreat Books enough.
Rainy Retreat is in my top 5 used book stores EVER! They have an incredible selection that is so organized and accessible! The "Book Keepers" will help you find exactly what you are looking for! And if they don't have it in stock, they will still help direct you where to look! Luna, the shop dog, is a delight! AAAAANNNND it has that lovely 'bookstore smell'. I could spend hours at Rainy Retreat (and often do!)
Such a cute little book store! Went looking for books about local stories and history they had a good selection with decent prices. Staff was super friendly!
Taku Lodge was amazing. The staff to the views. I couldn't get over the view of the glaciers. The salmon lunch was fantastic! After lunch, we got to hear all about the previous owners of the lodge. Then on to a nature walk. The whole place is an expe
This shop is real authentic! Small shop but very welcoming. I went to Alaska looking for some buds and The Fireweed Factory delivered! Solid prices for their product. Will definitely come back during my stay.
Excellent fresh seafood with outdoor setting and a fun atmosphere. The best tacos - they are delicious, and so are the loaded fries. Thereâs a reason why so many locals and your guides recommend visiting this place! Queues can be long during luncht
Amazing beers!! Great vibes!! We enjoyed the beers & the popcorn at BBC! Every customer at the brewery seemed to be having a great time and it was such a happy vibe! Enjoyed being there! The rescued cat, Simcoe, also did his bit to keep everyone en
Nice & easy walking path to get here if you have decent mobility. Not ideal for limited mobility. Great signage. You can't get lost. Saw lots of small wildlife, like mice & birds. Someone reported seeing a bear, but we didn't see it. You can get so c
Short walk from the cruise area if you're looking for a chill local bar to go to. Reasonable prices. I recommend a beer flight, three-four ounce pours for only $12 plus tax. Didn't try their food but it smelled awesome. Upscale looks without the upsc
This was one of the best tours we did on our journey to Alaska. Garyâs portion of the tour was fantastic, 37+ years in miningâ¦he is a real treasure. It was as authentic of a mining tour as weâd ever been on. I highly, highly recommend wearing b

Definitely recommend taking the tram up Mt Roberts as this provides a gorgeous view of Juneau. The ride up was about five minutes and recommend that you get on the tram facing the harbour as this will allow you to capture the moment. At the top of th
