My husband and I stayed 2 nights for a weekend getaway. We fell in love with this beautiful home just pulling in to park. It’s a beautiful step back in time. Very well maintained with so much history. Claudia (the Innkeeper) was so kind, accommodating and friendly. The rooms were so elegant and charming. Breakfast is very tasty and healthy. This most certainly is our yearly spot. 10+ stars!!!!
My 10 year old Grandson and I stayed at this beautiful home for one night. It was such a delight! Very impressive home with over the top architectural details and furnishings. The owner was gracious and made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Comfortable, quiet and historic. Just what we were looking for!

One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at. The home is warm, inviting and tastefully decorated for the period. You can tell Claudia the proprietress loves her home and her business. Many special details! Bed was very comfortable and our room was very clean. Breakfast buffet was delicious.|If we ever return to this area again, while traveling, we will stay here.
As a road-tripper who can’t resist a Civil War site, the Petersburg National Battlefield lured me to Petersburg VA. Then I was lured by the Ragland Mansion B&B.||Petersburg is a really old town which is showing both age and rebirth, and no doubt the Ragland is playing a role in this new era. What a gem. I arrived near sunset; the light on the brick façade was stunning. The parking lot was a little tight and I was unsure how to get in, but the owner came out to greet me. ||What a welcoming environment. The grounds are lovingly tended and the entry is eye-popping. High ceilings with intricate carvings, soaring staircases. Victorian furniture, art and lighting. (Ask Claudia about Joseph Cotton and Black-Jack Pershing.) Choose from several breakfast options and let the staff know the time.||Stroll into town for dinner. Blocks of ancient and empty buildings, some of which were there during the Siege of Petersburg. But new restaurants, coffee shops and live music can be seen. The sushi place was good.||My room at Ragland was spacious and quiet. Love the clawfoot tub. The wooden writing desk made me want to trade my laptop for a quill pen. There’s a TV but it felt almost disrespectful to turn it on. Firm mattress, hot shower, coffeemakers everywhere. Breakfast came at the perfect time. The amazing architecture of the Ragland is matched by the charming hospitality of Claudia and her team.
What a wonderful experience! Staying at the Ragland Mansion was like a trip back in time. The house was so elegant, interesting, and fun. Claudia was the perfect innkeeper. Her hospitality was top notch. Breakfast was delicious and served in the circa 1857 dining room. We thoroughly enjoyed this historic gem. I highly recommend it to visitors who appreciate efforts to preserve our history.
I arrived on a Friday morning for a weekend in Petersburg, to a large unassuming building where a petite woman was mowing the lawn. We smiled at each other and I preceded to the side door. Moments later the same woman greeted me with a warm smile and said she would go inside and open the door. Claudia is the owner, the chef, innkeeper, the grounds keeper, front desk manager and reservationist for this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. She simply pops up anytime she is needed and quickly disappears once she has sweetly shared a moment of her time with you, on to the next thing. The mansion is well kept, clean and takes you back in time all while feeling like staying with a great family member. Apparently I am not the only guest that feels this way as some weeks she is sold out months in advance! I will always return to the Ragland Mansion as long as there is a room to have me!
Chose Ragland Mansion, strictly from the website and reviews, as a stopover on our way from Savannah to Pennsylvania. We were not disappointed! Claudia was a perfect host with a beautiful home. Many first floor sitting rooms each well stocked with beverages to enjoy. Our room was large and very comfortable. Claudia gave us dinning recommendations and we had a very good meal at Croaker's Spot. A good breakfast set us back on the road happy. Like all historic large homes, it's a work in progress, but that gives it charm, warmth, and history. We were very happy with our stay!

I love history, even tragic history. We visited this park years ago, but the visitor center was closed. I'm glad it was open this time. The park ranger/guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. The driving tour was easy to follow.
