What a disappointment. I Stayed in this property back in 2017 while on a trip in the area. It was clean and efficient. Fast forward to 2024 and what a difference. The rooms were shabby in decor, had a smell that could only be a fain scent of mold in the wall perhaps? The AC units make a weird noise when operating and do not really cool the room. They leave the unit feeling more clammy than cool, very strange to stay in a space like that. The bedding although looked nice, the WOOD headboard was just screaming "BED Bug Hideout". Who even thinks to put wood on a wall these days? I am just glad I bring my own bedding when traveling. This way, I slept in my sleeping bag atop the bed with my own pillow. I was fearful of what I might go home with. The bathroom had issues with the flushing of the toilet, SO LOUD from other rooms and the sound in the shower both the squealing from the pipe, along with a floor that felt like it was going to collapse, just too much. It was a very strange stay. I had originally booked for for 5 nights, for a workshop though checked out first thing in the morning, then drove the two hours each way daily for my classes. So much for wanting to support local. Craziest thing, when checking out @ 6am while coming in for coffee and breakfast, I awoke the front desk clerk, from a sound sleep. He was so startled I think he thought me to be an intruder and not a guest. Oh and even when processing my checkout, he fell back asleep and almost fell over. It was quite the moment, clearly an overworked individual. I can say the staff is nice, though the QUALITY of the inn, isn't up to the standard it needs to be. I think it's time for a major remodel of this property. It's a great location, it just needs some SERIOUS TLC and needs not to be looked at as just a space for a money grab. I find the burden of that responsibility is on the property owner, they need to do better!
We couldn't get into our favorite motel nearby this one and were not too impressed with this Quality Inn. It just seems a little dated and needs better attention to its breakfast buffet. No one should put out old black bananas as their fruit option. But rooms were OK for one night. The motel location is good though for visiting the CIA and many other sites around Hyde Park.
I stayed in this hotel twice in April and May 2024 for a total of about 12 nights. I had family business to attend to and this was the most convenient hotel for me. One of the rooms had an odd smell. Both of them had thin walls and I could hear people in the adjoining rooms late into the night. In one room the TV broke repeatedly. The shower valves didn't seem to work properly and temperature control was difficult. I could see a note over the desk when I checked in to my first stay saying that several rooms were unrentable because of bed bugs. This hotel was not inexpensive either. During my most recent stay, some nights the room price exceeded $200, comparable to some much nicer hotels in New York City. Because I had been staying there so frequently, I tried to join the member reward program. However, the corporate support staff refused to add any points for my previous stays to my account because they were booked more than 30 days before I signed up for the membership account. One of the bookings was only 2 days before the 30-day window. I spoke to multiple support staff who refused to help and even told me things that weren't true. The only positive thing I could say about this hotel is that the hotel staff were helpful and doing their best under poor conditions. But I will avoid any Choice Hotel properties in the future.
Positive: The quiet and quaint area that it was located in. The ease of visiting FDR musuem or shopping if needs be. I like the friendliness of the staff at this hotel. I liked the complimentary breakfast. Negative: This is my 3rd visit to this hotel and I was disappointed that I didnt get my old room back, but next time I will definitely request it again. Bathroom tiles on the floor was lifting up. The bathroom area is smaller and I didnt like the shower head. Negative: ""
Positive: This is my fourth time staying at this location and all I can say is that the staff is always welcoming and friendly. I also got my old room back. I love the location of this hotel and it is in a quaint and quiet location near to FDR Museum and shopping. Negative: ""
This place seems to get well-visited. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable, but it is showing signs of wear-and-tear, albeit with attempts to "fight back" against the entropy. Our bathtub had a very soft spot in it. Looks like they tried to patch it, but it was still a little unnerving. Still, service staff on all fronts were excellent and, like I said, rooms were clean. Would stay again.
Positive: "" Negative: the room smelled funny. Breakfast was not good. Coffee was weak, eggs & sausage were cold, orange juice was water down.
1 block from FDR residence. Room smelled a little moldy, carpetwas damp. Breakfast was ok. Not diabetic friendly. Eggs were fried hard. Would have perfered scrambled. Unable to see sign for the hotel. Too far back from the road.
