Quality Inn Asheville Downtown Tunnel Rd - Featured Reviews (562)
Looks like an older motel from the outside, but the room I stayed in had been completely renovated & it was "top notch!" Comfortable bed, no off room smells or stains. New fixtures in sink & tub, and the toilet even had "quiet flush." Nice shower & fixtures and plenty of hot water for my morning shower. TV with remote and a bunch of free channels. A mini fridge which kept things cool, and a mini microwave (which I didn't try) and a one cup coffee/tea maker (didn't use). Iron & ironing board, and hair dryer (didn't use those either). Plenty of ice from the ice machine down the hall. Little noise, but I stayed on a Monday night, so probably not the busiest night of the weeks. I had a waffle, a couple of mini poppy seed muffins & hot coffee at the free breakfast bar and all was good. Everything in my room and in the common areas was clean and updated.
Motel a short distance from downtown Asheville, just through the tunnel. Good location, near the Mall and plenty of restaurants. I enjoyed my stay, very much, and for a good price.
Overall pretty good. Nearby to attractions and food. There was a waffle maker but no eggs or breakfast proteins so we ended up across the street at the Waffle House. The manager let us linger to wait out a storm, much appreciated. The fan motor of our AC unit rattled a bit. We forgot to mention it to the desk. We ended up turning it off to sleep. Good customer service. Not the best views but good for the price.
I made a reservation to stay here. I had to cancel due to a family emergency. I canceled way in advance.
They were arrogant and refused to give me my money back.
I contacted the BBB who in turn contacted them for me. They ignored the BBB! Very arrogant, and obviously feel they have to cheat people out of their money to MAKE money.
I wouldn't stay here if it was the last hotel in Asheville. I'd sleep in my car.
If you've got money to throw away, this is the hotel for you! And please, if not, do NOT allow anyone in your family to have a medical emergency!
Positive: Location was close to restaurants, breweries, and the blue ridge parkway. Can tell recently-ish updated so room, linens, and fixtures all clean and in good shape. Negative: Breakfast was pathetic. AC unit kept shutting off in the middle of the night and did not manage humidity well so not a great sleeping environment. Parking lot was tight. Wifi pretty sluggish. Coffee was BAD.
Let me start with the positives. The room was clean nice, especially for the price. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful.
I drove several hours from out of state and had my service dog with me. I was letting him use the bathroom after being in the car for hours while my wife and mother in law went inside to get a room. They asked my wife to have me come in and sign “the paper”. I went in and it was a pet policy. I tried to explain to him that he wasn’t a pet and I shouldn’t have to sign the paper but I did because it was 1am and we were all tired. Then he told me I had to have his “papers”. I said there are no papers or legal registration for service dogs. He finally let that part go. We get to the room and it’s a single room. One bed. For 4 people. I went back to the front desk and told him there was only 1 bed. He told me that was the only pet friendly room they had left and that they had to put us in a pet room because I had my service dog. I explained to him we can legally be in a non-pet friendly room. He said no, service dogs have to stay in pet friendly rooms. I tried to educate him and he stated he needed to call his manager. I said no problem. His manager didn’t answer and he just gave us the keys to the non-pet friendly room. Do I think he was trying to give me a hard time? No. I think he thought he was doing the right thing. I tried to stay as calm as I could because I was exhausted and it was so early in the morning but at 1am I was done with it. Please educate your staff. It’s not fair, right, or legal to treat disabled people that way when we are just trying to find a bed to lay our head. If you have a service dog and don’t have or want to have the energy to fight with these people DON’T stay here. They aren’t above the federal law.
OK rooms were very clean and tidy. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I gave the service 4 stars because the front desk ran out of laundry detergent. We had to leave to go get laundry detergent because the front desk "sold out". Location is difficult to rate anywhere in Asheville anymore. The location itself was great close to restaurants and gas stations and other shops. However Asheville has become over run with drug addicts and has a serious homeless problem that needs to be addressed. We were never approached by anyone but it's not a place I want my wife and family traveling alone. Not for fear of being hurt physically or anything it just does not feel like a safe or well kept place anymore.
Needing a good clean room for the night, then this is a good place. Nothing fancy, no pool or extras.
Breakfast was simple foods but made for a good start of the day. Waffles, bagels, cereal, pastries, coffee and juice. Clean and well stocked.
Would stay again.
Perfect for what we needed. A clean soft quiet place to sleep. Rooms have recently been redone. Beds were so comfy! Ivy at the front desk was so sweet and helpful! She's a keeper!
