This was a wonderful quant beach hotel. It is on Main Street 3 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks from the center of town. More like a bed and breakfast, it was a gorgeous older home with cozy rooms and three great porches. Very quiet and the host for the weekend, Jerry, was great. Theh have discounted beach passes for guests, umbrellas and chairs to bottled water to buy for a $1. Perfect amenities for a beach day! Hotel and rooms very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again.|
Wonderful inn close to beach and in town. Hospitality is their motto it seems. Able to see the ocean from bed. Cozy room. They sell discounted Beach badges. Coffee and tea always available free and a microwave guests can use. An Ocean Grove gem.
The hotel is well located and very close to the beach. We were able to watch the 4th July parade from the balcony. Jerry and Kevin were super nice and welcoming, always making sure my family was having fun. We went to have ice cream at “Waves” located at the sister property just a few blocks away. Rooms super clean and comfortable, definitely we will come back.
Note: As one would expect in Ocean Grove this is a older, restored hotel. Rooms are smaller, lacking in electrical outlets, with in window air conditioning. But the ambience is superb and as hotels in Ocean Grove go- this is a good one.
Service is very good. Lots of nice amenities- complimentary coffee and tea, beach supplies- chairs, umbrellas, beach towels all complimentary for guests to use. Friendly front desk staff.
A bit pricey- but again, summer in Ocean Grove to be expected.
You can get beach passes at the front desk for $8 vs $12 at the beach.
I highly recommend this place if you are looking for quiet casual family, friends, single or couples time away. They were so welcoming and helpful. There is a shared kitchenette, and good coffee or tea in the morning. Public porches and board games for relaxing. The market is a hop skip and just away.
Progressive people, beware. ||||I have stayed in Ocean Grove and at the Quaker inn many times over the past 50 years. It's been a family tradition. My family lived here for generations, and returning after years away has been sad. Over the years, we typically have been greeted by gracious property owners. I can't say the same about the current ownership. While we were originally greeted with a smile, later it became very clear that the ownership did not like us. We can't say for sure if it was racism or homophobia or both but we clearly we're not welcome here.||||The Quaker Inn is nicely located in a great little historic town. But there's not much special about this extremely basic hotel when compared to others nearby. The building is old and quaint and beautiful. My issue is not with the beautiful property. What is so disappointing is the way they have done as little as possible to make their rooms and guests comfortable. It's a poorly appointed hotel at any level. ||||When we arrived to find our reservation was set for the wrong number of rooms, I was confident this would all work out. They accommodated us, and I still had a good feeling. ||||When I hit the hard as rock bed in a cheap, squeaky metal frame, I was fine. ||||When the VERY bright light in the hallway shone through the door and lit up the room, making it tough to sleep, I was patient. When the smoke detector fell off the wall and smacked me in the shoulder while I was sleeping, I laughed. When I was locked out of the hotel for 40 minutes after a trip to my car to get my spare key, I was perturbed... but apparently, they lock up and go to bed after 9. My fault, I didn't know about the entrycode. It was embarrassing, and now I was becoming frustrated. ||||But when the management accosted my teenage daughter and accused them of vaping in the room while threatening to "boot us out" of all three rooms, including our 75 - and 82 year old matriarchs... instead of speaking to our kid's parents first, I was enraged. ||||This hotel has shown itself to be unwelcoming, uncomfortable, unfriendly, and confrontational with kids. ||||Never again, The Quaker Inn. You've done a very good job at ruining a three generation family experience.
Stayed for the weekend to attend a wedding - we wanted an alternative to the hotel block. Staying at the Quaker Inn made it feel more like we were on a weekend vacation.
For a historic property, it's exceptionally well kept. The furniture and decor in common areas reflect a variety of times. The 1960s soda machine was a hoot and the gentleman at the desk was happy to swap my singles for quarters.
If it's unclear - this is NOT a BNB. There is coffee and tea readily available, but it's not a spot that offers any food beyond that. The antique soda machine was four quarters per can, and the lobby has a fridge of bottled water available on the honor system at $1 each.
Stayed in Room #2, two couples. Everyone agreed that the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Room had a kitchenette (no stove) with mini-fridge, freezer, microwave, dishes, and utensils. Also - CEILING FAN!
A request for extra blankets was fulfilled to our satisfaction. We all had differing ideas of sleeping temperature.
The bathroom is on the smaller side, but despite the smallish stall shower, hot water came very easily and quickly. We also got extra towels very quickly upon request.
Walkable access is fantastic - eateries, shops, the beach - perfect location.
Would I bring rambunctious kids here? No.
Would I want someone else to bring their rambunctious kids? Also, no. It's a quiet location best suited to couples looking for a relaxing getaway.
If you like antique charm, this 140 year old Inn, nestled in the heart of an historic district, is your place. The exceptional SERVICE is what warrants this review. I had a flat tire on a Sunday morning and a slow leaking spare. Gerry, at the front desk, searched online and we called 7 tire repair places, before we found one open 25 minutes away. He loaned me his bike pump in case I needed to boost that slow leaking spare. He even offered to drive me to the repair place. Great people. Great customer service.
The Ocean Plaza Hotel is a lovely, comfortable, inviting, and special gem. We had a quick visit to attend a funeral and booked our stay by chance. It is such a charming place and the staff are so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet is outstandi
This is a great place to stay for your shore vacation! We have stayed at the Inn for two years now and loved it each time! The breakfast specials are delicious and a favorite part of the stay! We also loved the fresh baked cookies after coming in fro
Lovely older (said fondly) hotel in Ocean Grove, right across the street from the beach. Room was on the small side, but had a great terrace. The front porch and interior common areas were both terrific, as was the staff. Only thing I would suggest i
Really, really nice beaches. Visited after labor day so very quiet but that was what we wanted! Clean and people are very friendly. Ocean Grove is a neat beachside community and recommend you walk around and see the Summer Tent Cottages. Boardwalk is
What a beautiful cafe! They have seating inside and outdoors too.. itâs like a 5 mins walk from the beach and is close to some of the cutest stores. Staff is super friendly and my oat milk latte was ð
My weekend at the Lillagaard was lovely. The family that owns the building were incredibly polite, caring, and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms themselves were clean and I had a gorgeous view of the ocean. They put a lot of care into the facil
