Love this trail for getting above the humidity of Hilo especially during the rainy season. It can be wet too. This trail has cultural significance and two forests with native birds before leading onto the desert plains, that’s where I turn around, just after the second forest
Well marked trail. Because it is at elevation it is generally a bit cooler.
Very nice trail with an outstanding landscape. Wear good shoes. Bring water and sunscreen, and remember you're always at an altitude of almost 5000 feet.
It was a great day for a hike, fog drifted in close by, but did not detain the sunshine. I was pleasantly surprised by how forested the area was with so much lava rock. The trail is marked with rock piles. I met up with people birding, they were saying this was an as good place to see indigenous birds.
I didn't have time today to make the 7 mile hike but I was able to stop and enjoy the view and read the signs at the trailhead. There is a decent place to park on either side of the road.
Great hike if you out and back the long trail. If you do the loop, the road is pretty boring.
Good hike. Not very demanding but the trail is pretty variable. Good to have shoes that offer ankle support but not necessary.
Great trail for flattish hike. Beautiful flora through several different lava flows. Lush kipukas. Dogs allowed on leash. No facilities. Only 20 minutes from Hilo. Love to hike this when I need a quick workout.
Very pretty and informative walking path through an area with diverse plant life and good birdwatching. Most of the hike is in a gated (not locked) enclosure to keep pests out. The entire walk is paved, and there is a small observation platform along
I was able to drop in while visiting town and had a great time. The staff, coaches, and training partners were friendly and welcoming, and the gym has a great atmosphere. Great place to train in Hilo.
Itâs an only outdoor sitting but they have canopies. Itâs basically food truck with seats under canopies so you can order at the food truck and get a seat and wait then they serve food to you. I ordered beef pho, dumplings and 2 cold noodles. It
So thankful we stayed here, got a completely different and intimate experience from our first half of our stay in Waikoloa. Our room was right off of the front porch so we had a nice area to sit and unwind before dinner each evening. Brian and his wi
This was an excellent place to stay. The breakfasts were amazing, the grounds are incredible, the location is great and the rooms are cute. The details are very clear and straightforward on the website. The lack of A/C was not a problem for us.
Iâve had poke all around the Big Island and this poke is exceptional!! Highly recommend. Itâs a small take out window. Service was friendly and quick. The All Star Bowl was perfect. Love the tuna and the salmon the great sauces and all the other
I loved coming upon this place after walking to see King Kamehameha statue.
Staff was welcoming and friendly. They offered to show me how to make my own wrapping paper by pressing wood blocks into paint. Cool! I came to see the art exhibit, which was
You can experience some out of the world views from here (plan for the sunset). And its a great drive, even if you do not plan to visit the summit. Please do not miss this spot in the Big Island!
(MUST MAKE A RESERVATION) What a gem of a place!! My partner and I have lived here for 3 years and just went today and we are in love! What a beautiful little place and an even more beautiful owner. We came to only realize that you needed reservation
Seriously the best sushi! Itâs a bit of a hole in the wall, but donât let that deter you. I got the sushi combo B, and it was amazing. We spent all of that night and the next day thinking about this sushi, and drove back to Hilo from Kona just to
