The tour was well worth it and Johnathan our tour driver was excellent and was very knowledgeable and made the experience well worth the visit , I would advise this trip to anyone to see the island
If you buy a package at the ferry, it will include the ferry, train, and 5 different admissions on the island. I would advise this over bringing your car or renting a golf cart especially if you are going for the day. The trolley is very punctual it arrives at every stop every hour. Friendly drivers that give you some history and information while you ride. You can hop on and off as you wish.
Skip the train and just get a good cart rental.
To begin with, it isn't clear when you get off the ferry where you are supposed to go to get to the train. Neither the website nor brochure tells you that you have to take the bus downtown to get to the train. Instead, you have to read the fine print on the ticket that we got in a whole pile of them we got when purchasing the all in one package. So we thought we had to walk to one of the stops, which was 25 mins, and then we weren't supposed to get in the train there. Their website said they would stop every 30 minds at the stops, but it was every 1 hr. This makes it impossible to time, especially since the stops don't know when the bus typically comes at. If you miss the train you have to wait a while hour before another will come. The train drives so close to the ferry dock but doesn't even stop there. The tour itself is pretty mediocre, so you aren't missing anything if you just get your own golf cart rental.
Went to Put in Bay for the day hadn't been there this year, it was so overloaded with people that even the Miller farry was overloaded with people that going crossed the lake was so slow!!.We got to the top of the hill and the golf carts we're sold out for the day.We took the bus to town and the driver said busy weekend with the volleyball teams in for the whole weekend. Never in my 30 years have I ever seen so many cars and people all in one place.not a good time.
Best way to get around the island. We learned so much from Dan. He gave us tips and tricks to make the day full of family fun. Even the 9 and 8 year Olds listened to every word.
Didn't want to bother waiting to rent a golf cart, because they were all sold out. Besides the traffic was nuts anyway. So we took the tour train. It was a nice experience, and a fun way to see the island. The driver narrates the tour, which gives insights on what you're seeing. Good "bang for the buck"! I'd recommend this.
Good hang out spot for summer, to eat, drink and enjoy family and friends. Something for everyone. Love the view of the water going and coming back what a beautiful sunset!!!!

A unique home that was originally a ship that has been converted. We were unable to see the inside because of the day we were there but it was fun to add a padlocks to the fence to commemorate our trip.
