Public House National Harbor - American restaurant in Oxon Hill - 199 Fleet St, USA

We came to National Harbor on a Friday back in December just to wonder around and ended up eating here as everywhere else was full, and it was wonderful. it’s a very causal but pleasant environment. They have a QR code for you to scan and open your own tab and close whenever you’re finished, which I enjoyed greatly as we were not rushed to finish and our order was not messed up. The food came quickly and we were brought water as well. The manager walked around to each table at one point to ask everyone how everything was going, which I appreciated. They had a very nice variety of music, different pop and rap artists, and they had many different programs on the televisions especially sports. I found it to be a delightful experience despite what the other bad reviews are saying. I greatly enjoyed not being bothered every 5 minutes like other places that are trying to flip the tables and rush you out. If you need something, there are always people walking by. We had to ask for another set of silverware, and we did not have a problem getting service for that. This place is definitely unique in how they operate compared to a traditional restaurant which is why I think some people don’t like it because they want that service, but I greatly appreciate and enjoy it because of how it is run differently and will definitely be back. Kudos to Public House National Harbor!!

The food was great! It came out in a reasonable amount of time, was cooked properly, and was quite flavorful. Sadly, the service was severely lacking. While.pur food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, no one came to check in on us. We were a party of 3 but only received 2 place settings and even though I asked multiple people for a third, we never received it. Sadly, we will likely not be returning.

Food was good. Got the steak frites. Loved the beer battered fries and that the steak came with garlic butter. But the food was already lukewarm by the time it arrived. The service was terrible. I was there on a Wednesday night. Not busy at all. The server came to the table 3 times and we had to ask the bartender to please find our server because we were ready to leave and had been waiting for her to come to the table for over 15 minutes. Also, there was a creeper trying to hit on some women at the bar. Thought they were all about to fight because he would NOT leave them alone. Also found where someone had left debris from what I can only assume was from someone rolling a blunt on the baby changing table in the men’s bathroom. And finally, the tip. We always tip generously. Often 30% or more. We had planned to tip around 10% and did so only to realize after the fact that they automatically charge 15% tip on all tickets. So the server ended up with a big tip that just wasn’t deserved. It’s like she had never dined in a restaurant before and it was her first day on the job. Won’t be back.

First all food is order via your phone and then delivered to your table. Refills are slow. Food is ok for the price. Fries are good.

I’m sitting in Public House as I type this review. I decided to review this restaurant after reading several reviews that described my experience verbatim. The food is good and came out hot and I’d say faster than expected due to amazing runners. HOWEVER, the wait staff is absolutely DEPLORABLE! Why are they bad? Well they’re incentivized to be that way. When you mandate a 15% gratuity irrespective of the service received, why would anyone do their job. While 15% is below what I normally tip, our wait staff did absolutely nothing to earn it. We had to wait outrageously long to get a refill on water and receive the check as our server was busy flirting with one of her co-workers all night. I thought it was isolated until I witnessed other servers nonchalantly waiting their tables as well. For the price and the hassle, I will not be returning to Public House. Definitely one and done for me! As you can see from one of my pictures, the food was good! Just not worth the poor service and forced tip.

So this place for me is a guaranteed smash anytime I've ben here. If I'm in doubt about what to eat or simply passing through can't miss. The fries are ALWAYS crispy (exactly) as fries should be. My go to is the shrimp & grits or the salmon 🙌🏾. No matter whether you're on a date or hanging as a group this is the place. Service is usually good & the drinks are good as well (old fashioned). Definitely one of my new favorite go to places

We stopped in for a late dinner after an event in the harbor and had a great time. Our food came quickly and our server was extremely kind. My fiance loved his burger and I got an extremely tasty salad. Make sure to look over your check - we noticed this restaurant adds a complimentary 15% which hopefully goes straight to the servers!

Food was fine and hot. The sourdough bread on the club will tear your mouth up. Service was fine but the automatic 15% gratuity was not cool. Food was pricey. Don’t know if we will be back.
