Providence Hostel and Guesthouse - Featured Reviews (179)
I stayed in the private room for several nights during this summer and probably spent more time in the room than the average guest. I have no complaints and am very satisfied. The facilities made me feel like i was staying in a friend's guestroom, complete with a full kitchen including fridge and freezer for storing my own food. The staff was always helpful, central Providence is in walking distance, and the laundromat is less than a minute from the door, which is great for both short and long term stays. The only thing i can imagine being a deal breaker for some is that during warm summers one you practically has to sleep with the AC on. I can't blame the hostel for the weather though and i consider this hostel my first choice for future stays in the city.
Had a wonderful stay!
Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, the area was nice with some good breakfast spots close by, and only a 20min walk to the centre of town - all at a very reasonable price point!
Special shout out to host John! Really lovely guy, made me feel welcome and was helpful throughout.
Would definitely stay here again!
Affordable and accommodating Hostel. The owner, John was friendly and helpful, and allowed me to bring my backpack to my room early, as I had just got in to town from the airport. A short walk to downtown Providence, and the bedroom, bathroom and communal areas were clean. There was AC in the room as well. Would stay again!
It's a great small hostel perfect for your trip to Rhode Island. They have a board for you to write down good things to do for your fellow guests. I only stayed one night but I hope to be back.
Edit: I forgot to mention the staff is also great. They are volunteers!
Clean, safe hostel located within a home in a residential neighborhood. Not very obviously marked from the street- plug into maps before arriving so you don’t miss the entrance. Friendly and welcoming staff!!
A cosy and charming little hostel. The host is nice and welcoming. Overall enjoyed my stay and would recommend it! It's also one of the more budget friendly options in the area
Location wise, it's a safe neighbourhood on Smith Hill. Though it's about a 20min walk from Providence station and Downtown Providence - there are buses on the RIPTA network if you wish to take that instead.
I booked this Hostel last minute and I was pleasantly surprised with the ease and convenience. The host was incredibly nice and thorough when checking me in. The rooms and bathrooms were incredibly clean. I will definitely be utilizing this hostel again when visiting Providence!
It was easy to book direct (recommended) and instructions for check in were clear. We needed some flexibility and, while still following detailed emailed policy, we were accommodated.
Getting in was tricky for me. It was clear on the website we'd have to navigate stairs, but I didn't realize how steep they were. Our room was up 2 spiraling flights of stairs with a wall, but no hand rail. We asked for a private room, and although I was not expecting anything super fancy, there were 2 disappointments: 1. The doors had floor to ceiling windows and the blinds didn't do a great job of keeping out the hallway light. We tried shutting the hallway light off after hours, but someone turned it on and left it on in the night. 2. The bed frame was a very simple metal frame with wood. As a fat traveler, I was very concerned I would break the bed as it made very concerning noises every time I got on and off the bed with my partner.
The rest of the stay was fantastic, clean, and kind. There was an AC unit in the room that worked great for me as I'm not use to New England heat. Kitchen was huge, plenty of cookware, and room in the fridge.
I recommend you read the website carefully and decide what makes sense for the kind of traveler you are.
My first time Iâve come by was tonight for my birthday and Iâm so glad I did. The coffee and food is amazing! Clean and cozyð the owner is also a super friendly guy.
