This was beautiful and fun. We pulled off the road into many of the parking places to hike some of the trails and get closer to the rocks and water. A great adventure! We saw people cliff jumping into the water. We also decided to head back that evening to see the sunset (unfortunately, too many clouds 😞 )
We only had a short stay in Marquette so we planned to visit Presque Isle Park and Clark Lambros beach park It was an enjoyable hike in around the park and to the Black Rocks. Nice views of the impressive Lake Superior. We enjoyed just relaxing and seeing some wildlife and the weather was nice. Overall a nice way to spend a couple of hours.
Incredible park. It's not huge, but I could spend a week here. There is a point where you can jump off small cliff about 15 ft into lake Superior. Very popular spot. There are a couple of beach areas that are nice. The views are spectacular!
Beautiful hiking and scenery. This park is open until 11 PM which means you get to see a lot of stars over Lake Superior after a delightfully eerie drive through the forest at night. Let's hope the Upper Peninsula stays unpolluted and remains unknown, because it has been a couple of decades since I've seen beautiful beaches unspoiled by the constantly littering cretins of the lower 48.
Wow, what an incredible adventure my friend and I had at Presque Isle State Park in Marquette! I can't wait to share the magic we discovered in this hidden gem on the shores of Lake Superior. Picture this: You drive through a lush forest, and suddenly, you're greeted by the sound of waves and the sight of the vast, sparkling expanse of Lake Superior. It's like stepping into another world. My friend and I couldn't contain our excitement as we parked the car and made our way to this natural wonder. The first thing that struck us was the rugged beauty of the shoreline. Massive sandstone cliffs rise dramatically from the lake, and the waves crashing against them create a mesmerizing symphony of nature's power. We spent hours exploring the rocky beaches, searching for unique stones and enjoying the sensation of the cool, clear water lapping at our feet. But the real showstopper was Black Rocks. These ancient volcanic cliffs are an absolute must-see. My friend and I summoned our courage (and a bit of adrenaline) to take the plunge into the chilly waters of Lake Superior from these iconic cliffs. It was an exhilarating experience that left us laughing and feeling like kids again. Presque Isle is also home to some incredible hiking trails. We tackled the Harlow Lake Loop Trail, which took us through dense forests, and to jaw-dropping viewpoints of the lake. The trails are well-marked and offer a range of difficulty levels, making them accessible to hikers of all abilities. Speaking of accessibility, we were impressed by how well-maintained the park is. The facilities, including restrooms and picnic areas, were clean and conveniently located. It's clear that the park staff takes great pride in preserving this natural paradise. Now, let's talk about the sunsets. My friend and I made sure to catch at least one during our visit, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. We sat on the rocky shore, wrapped in blankets, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange, pink, and purple. It was a moment of pure serenity and connection to nature that we'll never forget. Presque Isle State Park isn't just a destination; it's an experience. It's a place where you can reconnect with the beauty of the natural world and create memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you're an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or simply looking for a tranquil escape, this park has something for everyone. So, if you're ever in Marquette, make sure to visit Presque Isle State Park. It's a slice of heaven on Earth, and I guarantee you'll leave with a heart full of gratitude for the wonders of our planet.
Adjacent to the ore buildings, lies an intriguing and captivating expanse. The park encompasses a substantial loop suitable for both hiking and driving, featuring multiple pull-off points. It's important to anticipate potential challenges with parking availability during the driving route. Notably, our visit afforded the sight of numerous individuals engaging in cliff-jumping activities off the black rocks. The vistas from these elevated positions are undeniably breathtaking. For those situated in the vicinity, the site warrants exploration as a brief stop of approximately 30 minutes can yield a rewarding experience.
For me this is one one the best spot for hiking so far if this is on the morning when you have sunrise or in the evening when there is sunset, the scenery is stunning plus list of thing to do…..
Beautiful state park! We rode bikes from Marquette! It’s a bummer dogs aren’t allowed outside of vehicles but I get it! Definitely a fun location to explore and we enjoyed Main Street pizza at one of the picnic tables and watched the sunset!

Beautiful beach on Lake Superior in Marquette. Climbing equipment and swings for the kiddos are there too. Bathrooms could use some attention, as they were far from being clean.
