Preacher's Rock - Hiking area in Cleveland - , USA

We hiked this trail with our children ages 7-17. It was a decent amount of time roughly 45 minutes to Preacher’s Rock. It’s 2 miles there and back from Woody Gap. The trail was pretty easy until the last quarter mile when it got steeper and lots of rocks but still very manageable even with kids. The view was definitely worth it! Wear good hiking shoes and bring water and snacks especially if you have children with you.

We hiked from Dockery Lake to Preacher's Rock, covering a distance of 11.5 miles point to point. The trail is not well marked and is filled with numerous rocks and stones, so it's essential to wear footwear with good ankle support. The view from the summit was breathtaking, and we had the opportunity to enjoy the vibrant fall colors.

Amazing trail and can continue to whatever length you may want to endure. Beautiful scenery, well marked, ability for both beginners and all levels. Very serene and weekday not very crowded. Nice to go in January when it was chilly and perfect.

One of the best hikes I have been on in Georgia, the closest to the Smokey mountains of Tennessee I’ve found in Georgia. Hike to preacher’s rock, was 6/10 difficulty with a 10/10 view.

What an incredible slice of heaven. I parked at the woody gap entrance for the 2 mile hike up. Very nice and well maintained. The views are amazing and such a great spot to soak it all in.

It’s 2 mile for the woody gap , it was gloomy weather but definitely worth the hike — it’s easy to moderate not too difficult …! Will be back in spring to see the other side of this beautiful place

The view is beautiful but the path to get into this is very difficult as we are doing hiking for first time. The pathway is in dense forest and gets steep when you reach close to rock. It took us 30 mins to reach up. We went on Saturday 6 PM to woody Gap and from there it’s 1 mile hike. There is plenty of parking.

Beautiful overlook/rock outcrop about a mile from the Woody Gap trail access. You will walk northbound on the Appalachian Trail (white blazes) from the parking area at Woody Gap. Be prepared for colder and winder conditions at Prescher's Rock than at surrounding areas because it's at a slightly higher elevation and exposed to the weather. The section of the Appalachian Trail that you must hike on to access Preacher's Rock is relatively easy. The last quarter mile of the approach is steep and has several places where you must step up 18-24 inches. Experienced hikers will have no problem, but weekend warriors and suburbanites might find it moderately challenging. Know your abilities and be honest about both your experience level and physical fitness before you attempt to hike to Preacher's Rock. Note that this site can also be accessed by hiking south on the AT from Slaughter Gap/Blood Mountain.
