A friend of Portia told me about this place for a couple years.. as a Chef.. I never have time to get there during open hours. So, today I went because I had the day off for personal reasons. I came for the B&G and they were out. I ordered the french toast instead with an over easy egg and bacon. This dude put my bacon in a dirty hand towel to get the grease... ugh.. The french toast was probably the worst french toast I have ever taken a bite of. The egg was good and the only thing I ate. When I came in, I also ordered a tenderloin dinner to go. (I wouldn't of had I known) I paid 35$ for food I will not eat. I took the bacon home for my dogs. The Tenderloin Dinner looked like prison food. I'M HUNGRY and now I have to get breakfast and lunch elsewhere. I will never go there again and I will spread the word in the restaurant business about this day. I'm all about customer service and health codes. Horrible fail.
Don't pass by this gem of a place. It's AMAZING! Our server, Kenna, was fabulous! As first timers here, she explained how everything was made FROM SCRATCH and with love. She wasn't kidding! The French toast had so much cinnamon it made my tummy and heart happy. I couldn't believe I finished my entire plate! Hubs had the sausage and cheese omelette with hash browns and toast. He raved about how good the omelette was and the hash browns were done perfectly. He usually doesn't eat the toast, but he finished all of it loving how it was covered with butter. It was only 9:30 am and we were lucky enough to get the last 2 slices of apple pie left for the day! REMEMBER ITS MADE FOR SCRATCH! It was even better than my grandma's pie! 🥧 Sorry grandma. The women working here obviously love the place and love what they do. It definitely isn't a typical place. Kenna, there for only a couple years worked the room worked the room like she'd been there decades. She made our experience even better. No doubt it's on our list to return to when in the area! Hope we get there soon and get the last slices of pie again! 😁❤️❤️
If I could give it 10 stars I would! This is a family owned business, you get that feel as you walk in the door. The staff goes above & beyond. For those that want good home cooked food just give it a try and you will be hooked! There really isn’t too many places out there like this place anymore. I love love love the sweet iced tea and of course our waitress Kenna!
Loved it form the moment I walked in. Then the food blew me away. Probably second best meal I've had in KCMO. No joke. Burger was exceptional & they listened when I said I love onions 😁 Even the customers are honestly friendly, staff treat you like you're in a movie about a small town diner. So good I had to call & thank them when I got home. Silly, but true.
Small town feel in a big old city. Everyone always seems so positive, friendly, and upbeat. Our server is always fast and accurate. People joke and have fun. Food is always spectacular for such a small place. It's cozy but not necessarily cramped. Their entire menu is reasonably priced, and they seem to genuinely appreciate their customers and any resulting tips. I highly recommend you try it out for yourself if you haven't done so yet, and make sure to try the biscuits and gravy...yum.
Great little space. They were busy and short staffed, but we were in no rush. Sausage house omelette was outstanding. Service was straight forward and super friendly. Would love to try more dishes when back.
Hashbrowns was burnt , my omelet was not done all the way and they charged us 3.00 for a can of soda . Please don't eat here not on the up and up people period. High prices for trash plates . Again pricey food for trash plates . Hefford grill was better and shame on you for keeping the same name .
The food and service here is amazing. It's a small business with amazing people. My favorite place for a good breakfast.
