Porcini - Italian restaurant in Philadelphia - 2048 Sansom St, USA

My recent restaurant week experience in Philly was extremely disappointing, ranking among the worst restaurant week dining experiences I've had in the city. The ambiance upstairs was lackluster, with a low ceiling, wobbly chairs, and worn carpet setting a negative tone. The food was equally disappointing, with under-seasoned shrimp, a small crab cake, poorly presented pasta, and shared dessert plate that felt unrefined. Additionally, our server's frequent smoke breaks added to the disappointment, as the food often arrived with a cigarette odor. Considering the price, I felt $45 was a significant overcharge for this subpar experience compared to other Philly restaurants offering superior quality during restaurant week. Even the complimentary bread was the highlight, underscoring the overall disappointment. Sadly, I won't be returning to this restaurant.

Porcini is the perfect place for an authentic Italian dining experience! My partner took me here for my Birthday dinner and I was truly amazed. The food is absolutely delicious. I knew this was the real thing because they didn’t skimp on flavor while also feeling light in my stomach. I feel so thankful to how accommodating they were with our meals. My partner is lactose intolerant and they were able to take out the cheese in the dishes we shared or put them on the side so I could enjoy the dish in its full glory! Overall, David and his staff are truly the stars because they don’t hesitate to make you feel like their own family! So much love for this homey restaurant and we’re already planning our trip back 🫶🏼

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very attentive to our wants and needs. The restaurant in itself was kind of small, but the atmosphere was very cozy, and it felt almost like a family reunion with people that you've never met. The owner and the chef were also wonderful and made us feel so welcomed. I would definitely come back to this establishment.

This is the best Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. If you want authentic Italian food, this is the place. The dishes are light and sophisticated, the service is very personable and warm and the ambiance is uplifting.

Oh wow! What to say about this amazing restaurant?!? We felt like “La famiglia” this place is amazing and if you’re ever in Philadelphia you NEED to go. David and Steve are such amazing people, they made us feel so welcome and special, we were a big table of 14 people for my birthday and I want to make this place a tradition for my bday from now on. My daughter wanted gnocchis and they weren’t making them that night, so they called her into the kitchen and they made them fresh for her and gave her an apron and called her “Porcini’s chef Alma” Thank you guys! Grazie mile! 🤌🏼 can’t wait to be back! 🇮🇹 Mamma mia!!!!!

Not sure why I've never reviewed this place before, its one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Just recently ate here again for restaurant week, had the Bruschetta e fagioli, shrimp risotto, pollo saltimbocca, and the porchetta. This lemon cream dessert is always devine, do not skip that

Porcini is a hidden gem! It's my favorite cozy, BYOB to dine at whenever I'm in the city or have a special occasion to celebrate. Everything on their menu is delicious, especially the artichoke appetizer & bolognese. The pasta portions are generous but I promise, you'll want to lick the plate clean! There's always room for dessert like a classic canolli or tiramisu! Many thanks to everyone at Porcini for helping make each experience so wonderful & memorable.

Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Terrible food and combative cooks. We were forgotten about for 10 minutes once we sat, after our appetizer they tried to give us the check or dessert when we hadn’t gotten our entrees yet, we had to reorder. Both dishes were gross. When politely trying to leave we were interrogated until we finally said the dishes seemed rushed. The cook then came out and yelled at us, without us saying more than a word back. After we complained to the waitress he came back and argued with me again. The owner and cook then had a loud swearing match in view of everyone in the restaurant. On my partners bday of all days. At least the prosciutto was good.
