Don’t believe everything you read in reviews! The Pontiac Lodge was a delight! The rooms were spacious; beds were comfortable; kitchenette station was fully stocked. This hotel was walking distance to every sight we went to. The view was clearly breathtaking! The staff were courteous and knowledgeable! I was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews online. However, most of them were not true! Yes, there were a couple buttons on the remote that no longer contained readable letters. But, I hope as a society, we can assume the red, round button is power…. Yes, the bathroom is not huge. It is just a perfect size! I will take a spacious sleeping room over a large bathroom anyway!

First time in a boutique hotel and probably my last . I didn't rate service 'cause honestly I didn't use any service. From them. The room was okay. It was a little cramped and had a big jacuzzi tub that I didn't need . I did like the location. Cause it was close in town and You could get to the shops and anywhere on the island easily. The thing I didn't like is we ended up checking out the day early cause I was sick .In regular hotels, when you check out you're done and you're done with your bill, but in this hotel you still had to pay the whole amount to which they give you a gift Certificate to come back within 1 year. So that is the only thing about it!

Open year round, plenty of space (not giant rooms), but included a kitchenette. Great location right off the main drag. The room didn't come with a view, but it was very comfortable and we would love to come back!

Kim went above and beyond. My daughter left her phone in our condo and realized it just as the ferry started pulling away. Kim went up to our condo, not once but twice to look around for the phone. Somehow she managed to find it, ran it down to the docks and had it sent over on the very next ferry! The phone arrived on the dock 20 minutes after we did. Thank you Kim

My family and I came for an off-season visit (husband & two kids ages 8 & 7). We had a good time overall! I will give props that the one night we locked ourselves out, they were ready for our call to get us an emergency card lol. We liked the size of the room and it's moderately up to date. The fridge was a bit small for us (think square mini fridge) and with the off season and only two restaurants open, a small fridge wasn't ideal. We made it work though! Not sure if it's an issue any other time of year (again, off season!!) but come 6-7am, the doors were SLAMMING. I assume with workers prepping for the open season and our kids are heavy sleepers so it didn't bother them but I'm a light sleeper so I heard it each morning (sat-tue). Location was good though for us. Nothing is ever that far with the island being so small and this does seem one of the "further" options, but it was still a 6ish min walk to the grocery store and less to the two open restaurants! Therr was a school playground also about a 7 min walk away which came in handy for us with our antsy kids and less to do.

Booked a stay at this hotel since many good reviews and more, but after I booked I was informed by a friend I should have checked to see if they were still open during the winter season. Me, my other half, and our booking agent all tried to contact the hotel to get information but none of us ever got a response and for safety we had to cancel since we did not want to waste over $600 to not have a room. And thus we were hit with a 50% room charge to cancel since we couldn't get a hold of the hotel.

My husband booked this hotel a few months before as we knew since there are only a limited number of rooms that we wanted to have a good view of downtown Mackinac Island. The view did not disappoint, and the room was perfect for the right price, versus a lot of other places to stay on the island. The office where you check in and the stairs both are on a side road so you don't have to worry about the busyness of the main street. The room was clean and the staff was super friendly. We only stayed for one night, which was perfect! Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

Decided to stay on the island for just one night. Previous stays have included 10 different stays multi night stays including at the Grand Hotel, at the Metivier Inn and the Bayview Bed and Breakfast. The Pontiac was the least expensive option for a Wednesday night towards the end of September, when we reserved it in March! $220 for the 3 of us--could have slept 4 as the single had a trundle. Bathroom was super clean and shower nice and hot. Room a bit small for 3, but 2 chairs (no cushions) and other furnishings were in good condition and updated. It was the only room at the Pontiac still available when we made the reservation. I kept checking for a special at the Grand, with no luck this trip. After reading reviews of the Pontiac, we had some hesitation due to reports of noise on Main Street, where it is located. But due to the time of year, not the typical noisy, college age crowds, after day trippers leave rowdy-ness typical on main street at night. But figured that the big minus of our room--no windows!! --just a skylight-- might be an advantage for sleeping. For whichever reason, we had a quiet, peaceful sleep in a room directly across from Shepler's ferry, and the bike rental shops. Note that checkin is at an office which is open til 6 pm and after that, no one available. Rooms accessible after 4pm or when they call you. That could be inconvenient unless you plan to be back downtown during that time frame. Due to less busy time of year, they did keep our suitcase in the office (just for this night we shared one case with stuff for one night, leaving our suitcases in the car at the ferry lot), so that was helpful. Might stay again if I was again on a tight budget.
