My first room smelled like a wet German Sheppard that urinated on the old carpet. The front desk gent was kind enough to attempt to find a room that smelled better. He went to the second room by himself, came back and said, “Not much better.” He then took me to a 3rd room let me walk in to see how it smelled. This room smelled like the same wet German Sheppard, but minus the urine smell… I asked if any rooms were not pet friendly and possibly smelled better. He said that he was afraid not, but that all of the rooms are thoroughly cleaned. Some odors just don’t come out of the paint and carpet I guess. Highly recommend brining scented candles!!! This place is seriously in need of an update and, at least, some non-pet friendly rooms!!
My husband and I got married at the end of September and still can't stop talking about how incredible our wedding was at PlumpJack. Not only was the venue in the most stunning location with beautiful views (especially with the fall colors), the team we worked with at PJ were absolutely wonderful. I firmly believe the group of people who are tasked with organizing and executing your wedding day can make or break the day, and we couldn't have been happier. We owe a HUGE thank you to Sarah, Bonnie, Rob and the rest of their team who made our wedding day perfect and far better than anything we could have expected. From the initial venue tour, to the many emails to ensure every detail was perfect, the accommodations made, and executing everything seamlessly on our wedding, I can say with full confidence we would do it all over again in a heartbeat. We are so happy with our decision to have our wedding at PlumpJack. Not only was the staff wonderful, and the location super dreamy, but the food was AMAZING. We chose to serve our guests fish and steak, and we were so impressed with how it turned out! We also really enjoyed the drink selections and know our guests did too! If you are looking for a venue that has it all, PlumpJack is the place- you will not be disappointed!
The two of us had a relaxing two night stay at Plumpjack Inn at Olympic/Squaw Valley, North Lake Tahoe Resort mid-July. We also dined at the Cafe. A relatively quiet time, given it is off ski season, but quite a few families, hikers, bicyclists, adventurists. We had reservations for dinner in the quaint and rustic Plumpjack Cafe and Bar on a Monday evening, not too busy, but a few full tables. Not our first time here. On our way to be seated, the host steered us to a large table in the middle of the dining room, while all the window booths, perfect for a twosome, were available. I steered our way to the corner window booth, which looked far more comfortable and bright. Much better for young seniors' comfort and vision the see and read a menu. We started off with the Burrata salad and Poke cones, and a bottle of Layer Cake Rose of Pinot Noir. We thought the Burrata salad would come with some bread or toast and thought they forgot. We asked for a bit of bread, which we received a few tiny slices, finding out after there was an extra charge of $6. The salad was good, but didn't stand out. The poke cones were tasty, but very small. A two-biter. The halibut was very dry. We even overheard the group near us say that the halibut was dry. Meh. We finished with a cherry galette and scoop of house made ice cream. Although we appreciate that our time here was to relax and enjoy our surroundings, which we did, the dining experience was okay, not exceptional like it had been on our prior visits. The prices are somewhat inflated for the quality. Having our room right there was perfect to take the remaining wine back and enjoy. The outside grounds are lovely. Although this time of year, there are loads of mosquitoes, so inside eating much more comfortable. Parking was convenient. The Inn and rooms were nice. Walls were thin and you can hear kids running up and down the halls. Our view from the room was nice looking up to the majestic mountain.
Hotel is ok. Would not stay here again in the summer. We didn't realize there was no air conditioning and it was hot. We couldn't open windows until very late after pool closed because of the noise. It was so hot we both did not sleep well at the hotel. 1st night called front desk and asked about air conditioning and they told us to turn down thermostat and wait 4 min, did this and called them back and they said wait 15 min. I tried telling the guy they only have radiator heating and I don't think they have air conditioning. I don't think this front desk understood English. Outside of hotel is beautiful and we bought some cool things at the store they have had in the 1st floor which I highly recommend. Location is 5 star as this is right across from the tram and restaurants. If it were winter, this hotel would be great but not in summer. Edit after response from owner. We paid $330 a night for a king room which was your only option when I booked 6 weeks earlier. It did NOT have a ceiling fan and there was no air conditioning. You provided a small black fan about 1 foot tall in which I found in the closet.
It’s all about expectations. Location can’t be beat if you are skiing Palisades. Right next to the funicular. But it is OLD and outdated. Hallways feel like an old college dorm. Rooms are outdated. Hotel is kept up well for what it is, but desperately needs an update.
Incredible heavenly stay. Absolutely loved the pool, delicious food, wine list and everyone was genuinely kind and helpful. We brought our dog and they even had a bed brought up for our furry baby! Everything is clean and neat. Love the pool area with all the birch trees around. Bikes were included and we were steps away from the Aerial tram and the Village. We can't wait to come with our kids and we may even get the Icon pass so we have an excuse to stay there in winter. Best stay in a very long time. Thank you to all the staff at the Plump Jack Inn💙
This hotel needs updating. When you walk through the lobby and restaurant/bar area, it feels like you're in a dark maze. There are no elevators, so don't stay here if you're older and can't get a first floor room.
i really enjoyed my stay. its a short walk to the village. the space is very unique and fells like home. the resturant was fantastic. the staff are friendly and helpful

The Lodge is a wonderful resort. It's located just a block from the Village at Squaw Valley and adjacent to the aerial tram. It has it's own parking garage and great outdoor pool for summer guests. The staff is very helpful and can answer all your qu
